Fellow Drammers!
We're excited to continue our Save our Whiskey Bars! Benefit Event series on Tuesday, September 1st, this time in support of Jack Rose Saloon in Washington DC, often referenced as one of if not the greatest whiskey bar in America. As this post goes live, they currently have 2,687 whiskies on the wall, and that's after a massive sell-off to support the bar during this covid shutdown era. Expect that to grow back to 3,500+ whiskies next year. But in the meantime they need the help of the whiskey community, and here at Drammers Club we want to do our part. The way we've structured this event, our club has bought $5,000 worth of their whiskies, and if the proceeds of the event exceed that, we'll just pass that along to Jack Rose. As most of you know, we've long been fans and patrons of this great whiskey bar, and we had the honor of welcoming their owner Bill Thomas back in February at our Wilderness Trail event with PM Spirits (Bill is a huge fan of Wilderness Trail), and in March we had the pleasure of spending an evening with his fellow owner, the legendary Harvey Fry, at the bar in DC. For those who have been to the bar, you'll know that they have a jaw-dropping array of all sorts of rare whiskies, but they have a particular love of two whiskies in particular SMWS bottlings on the Scotch side, and Willett bottlings on the bourbon side. And to say that they've put together a very, very generous lineup for our event is an understatement. So far we've got 6 bottles in the lineup, though we wouldn't be surprised if we ended up adding to it:
- Willet 14yo Family Estate Single Barrel Bourbon (62.1% abv)
- Willet 5yo Family Estate Single Barrel Rye (59.4% abv)
- Wilderness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon (56% abv)
- Wilderness Trail Barrel Proof Single Barrel Rye, (57.5% abv)
- Charles Medley Distillery - Wathen's Barrel Proof, Jack Rose Barrel Pick Bourbon (57.7% abv)
- New Southern Revival Straight Bourbon made with 100% Jimmy Red Corn by High Wire Distilling Co. (56.15% abv)
This is going to be a great event, and we hope you can join us to support this great whiskey bar in these challenging times. All the easier given what a generous lineup Bill has put together for us (that 14yo Willett alone might cost you the ticket price for a pour alone!). You can reserve your spot up at Drammers.com. The event will start at 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific.
Cheers,
Charlie
