Fellow Drammers!
When we announced that our Drammers Club wanted to organize this Save Our Mezcal Bars event, we reached out to some of our favorite mezcal brands to see if they'd donate some bottles to support. The response has been overwhelming, and while I'm not surprised, it really says everything you need to know about this community and this industry. It's really an all-star lineup for Tuesday's event, and a great way to both get your Cinco de Mayo on and help our community!
Check out this lineup, in no particular order:
The Chichicapa mezcal from Del Maguey, and we're thrilled that their brand ambassador Eva Pelczer will join to tell us more about it,
Two expressions of El Buho mezcal (both the espadin and the pulequero) and the awesome Gabriel Gilberto Velazquez Zazueta will be joining to walk us through them;
Dona Vega mezcal donated two bottles of their awesome espadin mezcal and we're humbled and so happy that their founder Sonya Vega will be joining us;
Mezcales de Leyenda donated two bottles of their wonderful Durango mezcal and like the other their team is generously joining us for the event;
Mezcal Vago also generously donated two bottles of their exquisite Elote mezcal and their national brand ambassador Francisco Tarrazas is generously joining us,
Our club is donating two bottles of Coyote mezcal made by Victor Ramos that we picked up in Oaxaca last October, not available in the US…
Our great friends at Noble Coyote responded within seconds of our request to say they were in with two bottles of their awesome espadin (we had the honor of hosting their maestro mezcalero Eleazar Brena a couple of months ago and they'll be joining us again on Tuesday),
Ilegal Mezcal also generously donated 2 bottles of their wonderful mezcal joven special edition, thrilled to have them join us!
Our new friends at Banhez Mezcal donated their espadin and barrel blended mezcal, which is fantastic,
And last, but as far from least as possible, we are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to our friends at Maguey Melate, who donated 4 bottles of their Barril produced by Antonio Martinez, and their brand ambassador David Lasher will be joining us. I want to give a special shout out and thank you to David -- he led the charge on getting this event set up, and simply put, it wouldn't have happened without his help.
Talk about one hell of a lineup, and one worthy of a mezcal bar as great as Ghost Donkey. I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone here that Ghost Donkey is that awesome mezcal bar over on Bleecker that, like so many great bars, had to lay off its staff as a result of the shutdown. Well, we've long loved this joint, and many of our Drammers events have ended up there at the end of the night, so we're happy to do our part. All the proceeds will go to the GoFundMe campaign for the Ghost Donkey staff.
Link to buy tickets below (you can pick them up in the village a few blocks from Ghost Donkey, or if you're within reasonable biking distance (BK included) there's a good chance we can drop them off. So please spread the word! Unlike most of our events, since this is a benefit, we're opening it up to everyone, the more the merrier:
