Fellow Drammers!
We’re excited to announce that on Saturday, November 21st, starting at 3pm EST, we’re doing a barrel pick event with Highland Park! We’ll have two different barrels to choose from, both 13yo first fill European oak sherry butts, at cask strength of course. Everyone who signs up for the event will get to taste them and weigh in, as we vote on which cask we want for our club. Joining us will be Edrington’s Cask Master Rachel Walters. We are very fortunate to have Rachel as our guest speaker (she is a 20 year veteran of the company who normally does not do consumer events- but for covid). Normally during this time she would be in the forests of America working to ensure Edrington's steady supply of quality casks. But thanks to covid, we’ll get a chance to pick her brain! Still finalizing the lineup, but we’ve already secured some great bottles at auction. So, in addition to the 2 cask samples, the lineup will include:
27yo Cadenheads, Highland Park distilled in 1988, finished for the last 7 years in an ex-sherry cask, 52.1% abv.
SMWS 4.257, a 15yo Highland Park, ex-bourbon hogshead, finished in a 1st fill PX hogshead, 56.6% abv.
Signatory Vintage 11yo sherry cask matured at cask strength of 58.1% abv.
Highland Park - The Dark, 17yo. 52.9% abv.
Highland Park - Valknut. Made in partnership with Jim Lyngvild. It means “knot of those slain in battle” and it is the 2nd in a series of three special viking legend releases. 46.8% abv.
The Glenrothes - Whisky Maker’s Cut. 48.8% abv. Matured only in first fill sherry seasoned oak casks.
Naked Grouse - Blended Single Malt Scotch. 43% abv.
[Plus the two cask samples noted above].
We’ll confirm shortly, but the lineup will likely include some sister brands within the portfolio, such as the Glenrothes Whiskey Maker's Cut and maybe even Naked Grouse. Details to come!
Cheers!
