We're starting a series of weekly virtual tastings kicking off next Friday, April 3rd at 5pm EST. It'll work a lot like a normal Drammers event, but rather than meeting in person, we'll drop off samples/minis in advance (by citibike/subway, or you can pick them up), and we'll log in to Zoom to taste them together at the same time (you can also just log in without the samples for free if you prefer). And to do this right, we've lined up some big, big bottles and even bigger guest speakers. Check out our lineup for April 3rd featuring no less than 6 guest speakers, including in no particular order:
(1) Todd Leopold, head distiller at Leopold Bros. introducing a distillery-only 9yo special bottling,
(2) the Paul John Distillery logging in from India,
(3) the Rozelieures French whisky distillery joining from France,
(4) Ulises Torrentera from Oaxaca's leading mezcal bar In Situ, introducing a special mezcal only available at their bar in Mexico,
(5) the Balcones distillery team joining from Texas to introduce a distillery-only Single Malt finished in rum casks,
(6) Sam Medley owner of Medley Bros. Bourbon introducing a Drammers-only bottling
(7) Joshua Hatton from Single Cask Nation introducing a surprise bottle, plus
(8) everyone will get a (different) mystery pour.
Oh yeah, and our headliner? A bottle of Stitzel Weller "Very Xtra Old Fitzgerald" 10yo distilled 1958, bottled in 1969 -- I know of only one bottle currently for sale anywhere, for over $4,500. The event is $100/person.
