Fellow Drammers!
We’ve been wanting to do an event to spotlight the great work of our friend and fellow Drammer Dave Schmier for a while now. He is the master of sourcing barrels, MGP, Dickel and otherwise. Everyone is familiar with his famous Redemption Rye, which he sold some years ago. Today he has a range of other equally exciting brands, and we’ll be tasting a bunch of ‘em on Tuesday, August 25th at 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific, including:
The Justice, 14yo Bourbon (TN whiskey, presumably Dickel), distilled 2005, bottled 2019. From what we’ve read, this is a blend of 12 barrels and barreled at cask strength of 47.1% abv.
The Senator, 6yo straight rye, 58% abv, distilled in Indiana (presumably MGP)
Tumblin Dice - Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Heavy Rye Mashbill (36% rye), 50% abv, 3yo, distilled in Indiana (presumably MGP)
2 Different Tumblin Dice Single Barrels - Here everyone will get to try 2 different single barrels, but true to the Tumblin Dice name, you don’t know which one you’re going to get, just depends on how the dice roll. But no chance of snake eyes here, these are all delicious, all 4yo, same high-rye mashbill, one is a pick by our friends at PM Spirits (56.55% abv), and the other 2 clock in at 54.65% abv and 58.15% abv.
Deadwood Straight Bourbon - we’ll get the party started with Dave’s core range bourbon release, a 2yo, distilled in Indiana (presumably MGP), bottled at 40.5% abv.
Deadwood Rye Whiskey - this one comes in at 41.5% abv, this time a small batch distilled in Indiana AND Tennesee (the plot thickens!), again a 2yo.
And you never know here at Drammers club, we might just add another expression. And most importantly we’ll be welcoming Dave as our guest speaker, a wealth of knowledge and experience. He’s been working closely with MGP since long before the MGP craze that’s driven bottles (like some of the ones we’ll be drinking Tuesday) through the roof. We hope you can join us!
