For the next event in our Save Our Whiskey Bars! benefit event series, we’re putting a spotlight on the great Seven Grand whiskey bars with locations in Los Angeles, Austin, Denver and San Diego. Here at Drammers Club, we’re huge fans, and many a Drammers event tends to end with an after party at Seven Grand, like we did a few weeks ago in Denver. Of course, we don’t need to tell you how hard covid has been on our favorite bars, and in fact the treasured Los Angeles location was only just able to reopen a couple weeks ago. So we set up this event to do a couple things. First and foremost, all the proceeds will be spent on the staff of Seven Grand, and we’re honored to welcome the incredibly knowledgeable, fun and all-around awesome Pedro Shanahan, who is the face of Pouring with Heart, and serves as the Spirit Guide for Seven Grand and their society tastings. He has generously agreed to join us as a guest speaker and to figure out how to best put the money we raise with this event to good use. Second, we want to make sure the team at Seven Grand knows how much we’ve missed them, and the important role they play in spreading the great word of whisky. With all that in mind, we’ve enlisted an army of our friends in the whisky business for an epic afternoon online tasting — 10 guest speakers, 10 expressions of whisky, and ultimately one message — how much we love the Seven Grand bars. So, without futher ado, checkout all of our generous industry friends who are joining as guest speakers for the event (in alphabetical order by brand):
Ardbeg: Cameron George, their National Brand Ambassador, presenting Ardbeg An Oa, 46.6% abv
The Balvenie: Neil Strachan, their West Coast Brand Ambassador, presenting the 12yo Single Barrel, first fill ex-bourbon, 47.8% abv
Blackened: Master Distiller Rob Dietrich, presenting their new limited edition cask strength bottling of Blackened, 57.78 abv
Bowmore: Simon Brooking, , Master Brand Ambassador for Beam Suntory, presenting Bowmore's 18yo Vintner's Trilogy (Manzanilla Cask), 52.5% abv (Note: the first 30 people who signed up got another expression in the Vintner’s Trilogy, the 26yo French Oak Barrique with a lower abv, but we only had one bottle of that so the next 30 folks are getting this equally excellent expression!)
Brenne: Allison Parc, their Founder, presenting their signature Brenne French Single Malt, 40% abv
Bruichladdich: Jason Cousins, Bruichladdich Brand Ambassador, presenting the Port Charlotte Islay Barley, 50% abv
Glenfiddich: Allan Roth, West Coast Brand Ambassador, presenting their 14 year old bourbon barrel reserve special edition, 43% abv
Maker's Mark: Phil Olson, Maker's Mark Diplomat based in Los Angeles, presenting their 2021 Wood Finishing Series Limited Release
Starward: Sean O'Connell, their Brand Ambassador, presenting Nova Australian Single Malt, their single malt matured for 2 years in Aussie red wine barels, 41% abv
Wild Turkey: Benny Hurwitz, National Brand Ambassador for Wild Turkey, presenting Wild Turkey 101 Rye (obviously 50.5% abv)
We hope you’ll sign up and join us! We will be mailing the samples out to participating attendees, however Los Angeles attendees please note, members of our club have offered to drive around and drop off the samples for free, so no need to pay for shipping and at checkout please select “For Pickup or Delivery”.
As a reminder, since this is a benefit event, we’re opening it up to non-members, so feel free to share this with your friends, and hopefully we can raise a good chunk of change to help our friends the staff of Seven Grand! This event will be the 7th event in our Save Our Whiskey Bars! series. In the past year, we’ve been proud to raise money for the bars or the staff or both of: Brandy Library (NYC), Delilah’s (Chicago), Travel Bar (Brooklyn), Jack Rose Saloon (Washington DC), Ghost Donkey (NYC) and Wheated (Brooklyn), and we’re hoping to keep doing these events for as long as needed.
