Fellow Drammers!
We’re excited to announce a special tasting on May 12th with Still 630, a wonderful distillery located within spitting distance of the famous arch in St. Louis. It’s a huge hit locally, though for those of you farther away from St. Louis, there’s a good chance it’s not yet available in your area, making this a special tasting opportunity. But Bill Meyers, the head of our St. Louis chapter, has hooked us up with Still 630’s founder and master distiller David Weglarz, who will be our guest speaker, and he has generously provided a monster lineup (11 expressions!) of their special limited editions and their core range:
Smoked mushroom agave. Part of their quarterly experimental series. We’ve never heard of anything like this before. 50% abv
Agave (reposado), char #3, aged 3 months. 50% abv.
Straight sorghum whiskey bottled in bond 50% abv
And of course tons of bourbon and rye. In fact, their founder, David Welgarz, pioneered the effort to create a legally-defined Missouri Bourbon category, made entirely of Missouri-grown corn, and entirely made in Missouri (not altogether unlike the Empire Rye category that our friends at Kings County helped pioneer). So we'll be trying:
Missouri Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Batch #4, 45% abv
Missouri Straight Bourbon Whiskey Batch #5, 45% abv
RallyPoint Straight Rye Whiskey (45% abv)
Rallypoint Rye Double Barreled (60.7% abv!)
Rallypoint Rye Maple Finish (45%)
Big Jake Breakfast Brew (White Dog infused with Colombia Monserrate coffee) 40.5% abv
Volstead's Folly - American Gin (40.5%)
American Navy Strength Gin (60% abv)
Not shabby for a $35/Member event, eh? Really proud to be featuring this whiskey with our club, and a big thank you to David and the team at Still 630 for making this possible, and to Bill Meyers for helping to set it up. We hope you can join us! You can sign up now at Drammers.com.
This will be a hybrid event, members can join via Zoom, and St. Louis members can also join in person at the distillery where we’ll be streaming live. We hope you can join us! For those joining in person, we’ll order in a couple pizzas or some other food so that folks aren’t eating on an empty stomach.
