Oct. 29: Online Mezcal Dixeebe & Origen Raiz Tasting -w- Asis Cortes......

$90.00

Fellow Drammers!

With Day of the Dead coming up fast, we wanted to do something special to celebrate, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guest speaker. Mezcalero Asis Cortes comes from a long line of master distillers, and its no overstatement to say that he is a legend in the industry, and one of the most tireless advocates and educators about mezcal in Oaxaca. He played an integral role in helping build his family’s mezcal brands El Jolgorio, Casa de Cortes, Nuestra Soledad and more recently launched a special project called Origen Raiz, where he partnered with a mezcal family in the state of Durango. His most recent project is Dixeebe, a Zapotec word for “cheers”, and it will be intimately familiar to any of the many Drammers who have made the trip to Oaxaca with us over the years. Asis has hosted many of our Drammers Oaxaca events, we have stayed at his family’s hotel Ofrenda and spent many of our most cherished Day of the Dead evenings with him and his family, where we had the pleasure of tasting through their precious Dixeebe mezcal and visiting their palenque in Matatlan. We have finally been able to arrange for these products to be brought in to our retail partner DRINQY.com and we’re hosting this tasting to celebrate. These are quite rare and (frankly), not inexpensive expressions. The tasting will feature:

  • Mezcal Dixeebe - Pechuga 04. All the Dixeebe expressions are sold in 375ml bottles, and this is Collection 6 (2026), 1 of 1,283 bottles. 50.1% abv

  • Mezcal Dixeebe - Madrecuishe 05. Collection 6 (2026), 1 of 1,248 375ml bottles, 50.1% abv.

  • Mezcal Dixeebe - Tobala 05. Collection 6 (2026), 1 of 1,248 375ml bottles, 52.1% abv

  • Mezcal Dixeebe - Barril 02. Collection 6 (2026), 1 of 448 375ml bottles, 51.3% abv

  • Origen Raiz Mezcal - Arroqueno. Distilled in Valles Centrales, Oaxaca. Edition 3, 49.1% abv

  • Origen Raiz Mezcal - Cenizo. Distilled in Malpais, Durango. Edition 28. 48.3% abv.

  • Origen Raiz Mezcal, Chacaleno. Distilled in Las Quebradas, Durango. Edition 5, 50.7% abv.

  • Origen Raiz Mezcal with Natural Flavors - Pecho de Venado. Distilled in Malpais, Durango. Edition 5, 49.8% abv.

  • Ron Don Chingo. Sabe a Oaxaca. Rum! Unlike the expressions above, this is (as far as we know) not available in the US. We picked this up at Asis’ shop in Oaxaca a few years ago. 49% abv.

That’s our lineup! We hope you can join us. The event will take place over Zoom starting at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern in the US and 6pm in Oaxaca. Please let us know if you have any questions!
