We’re excited to announce a special online tasting on Monday, November 24th with Dave Schmier, founder of Proof & Wood. You no doubt have seen Dave’s releases over the years — his Tumblin’ Dice bourbon routinely wins top awards, and his “DC Series” (The Senator, The Representative, The Justice, The Cabinet etc.) have been especially popular in recent years. Dave has always been at the forefront of pushing boundaries and exploring in corners of the industry where many of his peers are hesitant to tread. Back in 2010 he was one of the first to launch a rye whiskey brand (Redemption Rye) at a time when rye was an almost completely forgotten category. In the years that followed, rye grew by 600%, but it’s fair to say that Dave was one of a handful of people who recognized trends happening in the craft cocktail scene and helped create the category for modern purposes. He later sold that company and founded Proof & Wood, where in addition to award-winning bourbons and ryes, he explores rum, Canadian whiskey, Polish rye, even Genevers! We’re also very humbled and proud to call Dave a longtime fellow Drammer and friend of the club.

Good Day and Sunshine - Sees the same 21yo Blended Canadian Rye, Finished for 3 weeks in Jamaican Rum barrels, 52.5% abv ($94.99/bottle)
Seasons 2024 - Described as a blend of “extraordinary North American whiskeys”, it combines Canadian, American Rye, American Corn Whiskey and American Light Whiskey, all aged between 8 years and 24 years. 56.35% abv ($129.99/bottle)
Tumblin Dice 8yo Rye Finished in Lairds Applejack Casks. One of Dave’s newest releases — MGP whiskey (95/5) finished for one year in applejack casks from this iconic distillery. 59.45% abv ($79.99/bottle)
Tumblin Dice 10yo Rye Finished in Jamaican Rum Barrels. Another of Dave’s newest releases. 55% abv. ($89.99/bottle)
Presidential Dram 4yo Bourbon. Politics aside, Dave’s DC-themed series of releases (The Justice, The Senator etc.) have been some of his most popular in recent years, and this Presidential Dram release is no exception. 99/1 mashbill from MGP. Usually 57%ish abv depending on the barrel. ($87.99/bottle)
Crossborder Jackpot. A Mix of 7yo Canadian Whiskey, Canadian Rye and Classic American Rye. Finished in Ex-Rye Barrels in KY. 52% abv. ($57.99/bottle)
Matt’s Mitt - This brand new release was created in honor of a fun little story about one of our own members, Matt Lurin. You’ll need to read the details to get the full picture, but in a nutshell as a precocious kid he discovered that the Baseball Hall of Fame had made a mistake. All profits from the sale of this bottle will be donated to Matt’s Water of Life Cancer Charity. ($59.99/bottle)
Drammers 10 Year Anniversary Bottling. We were looking for something special to honor the 10 year anniversary of Drammers Club, and were honored and humbled when Dave offered to create this special bottling for us, featuring 10yo MGP bourbon, with a 99% corn, 1% malted barley mashbill. Sadly, this release is almost gone. ($99.99/bottle)
