Hello DC Drammers,
You’re invited to join us for a special tasting of single malt Scotch on Tuesday, December 10th at 7pm with the Torabhaig Distillery. Our guest speaker will be their Global Head of Brand Advocacy, Bruce Perry. If you’re not familiar with the Torabhaig Distillery, it sits up in the Northwest of Scotland on the scenic Isle of Skye. The distillery was originally conceived by local landowner Sir Iain Noble, who secured planning permission in 2002 but sadly passed away before it could come to fruition. After that, Mossburn Distillers took over, beginning construction and conversion of a 19th-century farm steading in 2014. It is the second legal single malt Scotch whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye—and the first new one to open on the island since Talisker was established in 1830. Their first distillate came off the still in January 2017 and the distillery released its inaugural single malt, the Legacy Series 2017, in February 2021. Presumably, they’ll have their first 10 year old whisky in a couple months, albeit in tiny quantities. The lineup is a little bit in flux but will include at least the following expressions, possibly more:
Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky ALLT GLEANN - 46% abv
Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky ALLT GLEANN - Batch Strength
Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky CNOC NA MOINE
Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky SOUND OF SLEAT - 46% abv
Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky TAIGH
No doubt we’ll have some other fun pours for anyone who arrives early. We hope you can join us! We’ll order in light food (likely pizza) which is included in your ticket. A huge thank you to Joe and Heather for organizing and to Joe and Clay for hosting (Location: The Oddfellows lodge at 701 24th St NW 20037).
Cheers,
Charlie, Joe, Heather, Clay and Drammers Club
