Hello Washington DC Drammers!
On Wednesday, May 13th at 7pm, you’re invited to join us for a special tasting of Scotch whiskies from the great Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia Distilleries (Loch Lomond Group owns both, along with Littlemill). Our guest speaker will be Andy Westley, who is Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia’s Master of Whiskies here in the US, and he is literally certified as one of the smartest people in the country when it comes to whisky (he is one of only 14 to be certified as a Master of Whisky from the Council of Whiskey Masters, which is the real deal — if you were there for our event with Dan Crowell of Glenmorangie, he is also one of the 14).
Our whisky club has long been huge fans of these distilleries, and we’re proud to say we’ve selected three Drammers-exclusive Glen Scotia single barrels and two Loch Lomond single barrels in the past, all of which we’ll feature at this tasting. If you’re not familiar with Glen Scotia, they are the OTHER great distillery in Campbeltown, alongside Springbank (they are the only two distilleries that survived since the 1800s back when Campbeltown ruled the world of Scotch). The lineup will include:
A very rare surprise Distillery Exclusive whisky from the Glen Scotia Distillery in Campbeltown
All three Drammers pick Glen Scotia cask strength single barrels. (7yo in an unpeated bourbon cask, 10yo in a peated bourbon cask, and a 6yo unpeated oloroso sherry cask).
Both Drammers pick Loch Lomond cask strength single barrels (12yo in a Bordeaux cask and 10yo in a Sauternes cask)
Core Range bottlings from Loch Lomond (Original, 12yo, 14yo and 18yo) and Glen Scotia core range bottlings (Double Cask, 10yo, 15yo, 18yo)
and potentially other surprise pours!
That’s our lineup, we hope you can join us! We’ll be at our usual location: the Oddfellows lodge at 701 24th St NW 20037. We’ll also order in light food (likely pizza), which is included with your ticket. A huge thank you to our chapter co-head Heather for organizing and to Clay for hosting (stepping in for Joe, who will be out of town). Needless to say (especially with a lineup like this!), we ask everyone to arrange a ride home, after all we’ll be drinking plenty of cask strength whisky!
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Charlie, Joe, Heather, Clay and Drammers Club
