Mar. 30: Drammers Delaware......

$60.00

Hello Delaware Drammers!

You’re invited to join us for a tasting on Monday, March 30th at 7pm — Charlie will lead us through a tasting of 8 expressions, mostly Drammers-exclusive single barrels that we haven’t had a chance to feature at our Delaware chapter yet. And of course we’ll order in pizza (included in your ticket). A big thank you to Jared for hosting and organizing (we’re meeting at the same place: the Newark Masonic Lodge at 207 East Delaware Avenue, Newark, 19713).  Here’s the lineup:

  • New England Barrel Co. Bourbon Finished in a Lord Hobo Stouted Beer Cask. This is an independent bottling company based out of New Hampshire, and it is all the rage in that region — luckily our Boston members jumped on it early. We welcomed their founder James Saunders as a guest speaker for our kickoff Drammers Boston event, and followed that up by tasting through some of his special releases. When we got wind of this barrel - Kentucky Bourbon sourced from Green River and finished in a Lord Hobo stout beer cask. Our Boston chapter made the way up to the NEBCo offices a few months ago and picked a barrel just for our members, and it is yummy -- like a Milky Way candy bar in a bottle. Since we selected this barrel, Green River Distillery was acquired by our friends at Bardstown Bourbon Company! 56.9% abv.

  • Single Cask Nation - 12yo Glen Garioch. This recent single barrel was selected by the Water of Life filmmaking team and we’re proud to say that we are the only ones who have it in the United States. Cask Finish: Oloroso Hogshead, 1 of 271 bottles, Distilled May 2012, Bottled: Summer 2025. 58.9% abv

  • Nikka From the Barrel - Extra Marriage. This is hot off the presses — the newest limited edition release from Nikka, where they allowed their vatting or “marrying” process go on significantly longer than normal (6 months), in honor of its 40th-anniversary. We recently hosted the Nikka team and tried this side-by-side with their flagship From the Barrel and there is actually a big difference (in their words, this release enhances “harmony, texture, and complexity”). Notes of chocolate, caramel, dried fruit, and oak compared to the original. 51.4% abv

  • 2 different Stauning Danish Whisky - Drammers-Exclusive Single Barrels.  These two special single barrels from Stauning Danish Whisky -- a double oaked floor malted rye, and a peated single malt whisky — were both selected by our members during a major online event we did with the Stauning founders. The distillery is remarkable in many ways, for example they invented new machinery to do all their own malting in-house, which attracted so much attention in its early years that Diageo’s investment arm Distill Ventures invested in them.  We're extremely proud to say that our barrels were the very first single barrels Stauning released in the United States, and they still have only ever done a few single barrels in the US to date.  Both bottled at cask strength of around 57% abv. Remind us to tell the story of the crazy labels for these bottles….

  • Rezpiral Mezcal - Capon Espadin by Abel Martinez. A couple years ago, the NY Times did a review of hundreds of different types of Espadin (which is the most common type of mezcal other than tequila), and Abel’s batch was named #1. When we saw that, we jumped into action and got his very next batch for the club!

  • Rolling Fork Brazilian Rum.  A Brazilian rum aged 12 years, distilled at the Epris distillery and bottled by the independent bottling group Rolling Fork.  And, importantly, it was aged for part of those 12 years in an Amburana cask.  If you’ve tried any bourbons finished in Amburana, they bring rich, bbq sauce notes and are often overpowering — sometimes too much of a good thing.  So, the Rolling Fork team didn’t finish this rum in an Amburana cask, rather they matured it partially in an amburana cask, but then tempered that by having the end of its maturation in an ex-bourbon cask.  , which is definitely a good thing.  Bottled at cask strength of 55.05% abv. (Drammers Single Barrel Pick)

That’s our lineup, we hope you can join us! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Charlie, Jared and Drammers Club
