Mar. 11: Drammers Austin -w- Water of Life Filmmaker Greg Swartz......

$60.00

Hello Austin Drammers,

You’re invited to join us for a special tasting on Wednesday, March 11th at 7pm — it’s a Scotch tasting of bottles released in honor of a new film by director Greg Swartz, who will be joining us as our guest speaker! The event will take place in the Zilker neighborhood, and the exact address will be circulated to those who sign up for the event. We’ll order in light food (likely pizza), which is included with your ticket.

Greg is of course the director of the Water of Life films. His most recent project, Independent Spirits, a film about independent bottlings of Scotch! It’s an excellent film and many of the people who appear in the film have been guests here at Drammers Club over the years. The Water of Life filmmaker team has arranged 5 single barrel bottlings in connection with this newest film, all of which we’ll be tasting at this event, along with some other fun new independent bottlings of Scotch. Specifically, we’ll be tasting 7 expressions:

  • Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Mother Cask (Craigellachie 11yo), 64.3% abv

  • Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Ex-Rye Octave Cask (Craigellachie 11yo) 64.7% abv

  • Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Ex-Bourbon Octave Cask (Craigellachie 11yo) 63.7% abv

  • Lost Lantern - Shadow and Light (Bottling for Independent Spirits Project). This whisky is a follow-up to two of Lost Lantern’s award-winning blended malts: Flame, an American mesquite-smoked blended malt, and Shadow, an American peated blended malt. Those releases explored the flavors of mesquite and peat through an American context, but separately. This release embraces both at the same time. It is an homage to the new and the old: it brings together an American take on one of the oldest types of whisky in the world, peated single malt, with a new tradition, mesquite-smoked single malt from the Southwestern United States. These come together to create a whisky that is warm and bright and cool and dark all at once.

  • Single Cask Nation - Independent Spirits Project Bottling, 12yo Glen Garioch, 58.9% abv.

  • Plus: two more independent bottling surprise bonus pours!

We hope you can join us! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Charlie, Dan and Drammers Club
