Hello NYC Drammers!
You’re invited to join us for a very special tasting in NYC with Calum Fraser, the Master Blender overseeing the entire Suntory single malt Scotch portfolio including Bowmore, Laphroaig, Auchentoshan, Ardmore and Glen Garioch (in addition to Suntory’s Irish whiskey portfolio, blends etc.). He’s one of the most respected and admired blenders working today, and while we have had the privilege of welcoming him for online events in the past, this will be our first opportunity to welcome him in person. Needless to say, we’re excited!
Since this opportunity is coming up on relatively short notice, we figured it was better to go ahead and announce it while the lineup was still a bit of a moving target. Our club will contribute a couple of big hitter bottles in addition to the lineup that our friends from Suntory will be bringing (we haven’t heard exactly what it is yet, but suffice it to say, they always bring amazing stuff, and I imagine that’d be even more the case with their Master Blender in town!). Here are the two bottles that we’re using the ticket revenue to include:
Bowmore Aged 20 Years, “David Simson” Distillery Exclusive, 50.7% abv. A special edition of 6,000 bottles only available on Islay at the distillery. It was named in honor of the distillery’s founder. It initially spent 15 years in Oloroso Sherry butts, followed by 5 years in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) casks.
Bowmore: Feis Ile 2023 Release, aged 18 years, matured in Oloroso and PX casks.
With lots more to come. We hope you can join us. Charlie and Summer will be hosting at their apartment (250 Mercer Street, Apt C512, New York, NY 10012). We’ll order in light food (likely pizza, included in your ticket), and as always, we ask that nobody drive home after the event (less an issue in NYC, but all the same, ha).
