Hello Andover & Boston Drammers!

You're invited to join our next bourbon and scotch tasting on June 29th at 7pm.  A big thank you to Steve for hosting us again at his place in Andover (address: 7 Lancaster Place, Andover MA 01810).  We've got a fun mix of new bourbon, scotch and even the new Doritos distillate, which you can read more about below (we've announced 7 so far, working on a fun 8th option, stay tuned...)!  As always, we’ll order in light food (included) to try to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach. We hope you can join us!

Cheers,
Charlie, Steve, Tash and Drammers Club

Bottle Lineup for the Event (7 of 8 Announced):

  • Bardstown Bourbon Co. - Amrut Collaboration.  We'll start with the newest release from Bardstown Bourbon Co.  Their collaboration series is arguably more robust than any in the industry, and this newest collab with the Amrut distillery in India is hot off the presses.  For this one, they took KY rye, finished it in ex-Amrut Indian single casks, then blended that with KY bourbon to arrive at this flavor profile.  55% abv.  More info here.

  • Green River Full Proof Bourbon.  We're working on bringing one or two new bourbon releases.  That'll probably include this recent release by Green River (their Full Proof version -- we'll have our recent "Full Proof" single barrel on hand to compare if you want).  There's another recent bourbon release we have in mind, but we'll wait to confirm before annoucing it.  58.65% abv.

  • High Wire - Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Single Barrel.  This barrel features air-dried barrel staves, which makes a big impact on bourbon as it ages. The main difference is that tannins wash out during the air drying process (in contrast to the more common kiln-dried barrel staves). High Wire initially started with kiln dried staves for their barrels when they launched in 2013, but right around the 6 year mark, they started to taste a tannic note emerging in their barrels — a note that the founders Ann and (especially) Scott preferred to avoid. So they switched to air-dried staves. This barrel is sharply different from our first club pick -- it has none of the cinnamon notes, instead swirling in creme brûlée, peanut brittle and even some tobacco notes.  59.55% abv.  (More info)

  • Doritos x Empirical.  This much-talked-about expression has been written off by some as a gimmick.  That would be to seriously underestimate the people making it.  It is vacuum distilled, using a base malt that is fermented with Kogi, and then an entire bag of nacho cheese Doritos was macerated into each bottle! Needs to be tasted to be believed.  Do a little research on Empirical, and you'll see that their biggest customers around the world are mostly Michelin-starred restaurants and many of America's most famous high-end cocktail bars.  More info here.

  • R6 Distillery - High Rye Bourbon.  We recently became acquainted with this long-standing distillery in Los Angeles (El Segundo neighborhood), and brought in a range of their bourbons and single malts.  They are about to launch a new line, the "Stock Exchange Club of Los Angeles" with us, and we selected 3 single barrels that we'll be receiving soon.  This high-rye bourbon is wildly original.

  • Inchgower 11yo Sherry Matured from Single Cask Nation.  We have long been fans of these independent bottlers, who were recently acquired by the same parent company behind SMWS.  Our first Drammers single cask with them was matured a whopping 26 months in a 1st fill sherry hogshead, and it is a belter.  Many, including SCN founder Joshua Hatton, are calling it one of the top 10 SCN bottles ever released. (More info)

  • Compass Box - Glasgow Blend, Drammers Exclusive Single Marrying Cask.  Compass Box is famous for making BLENDED Scotch premium again, creating ultra-high end blends of malt whisky and grain whisky.  They recently announced they were shutting down their single cask program -- where they create a blend and then "Marry" it in a single cask, in this case an ex-Cameronbridge cask.  We were proud to get one of the last (possibly *the* last) single cask in that program, which (we might add) is very reasonably priced.  (More info)
