On June 2nd, starting at 5pm Pacific / 8pm EST in the US (and 8am in Taiwan!), you’re invited to join us for an extra-special tasting with Kavalan Taiwanese single malt whisky. We’ll be tasting some of their rarest (and, frankly, most expensive) bottlings ever released, including the two single cask bottlings released in honor of the 15th anniversary of the distillery (with an MSRP of $1,000/bottle each). And everyone who signs up for the tasting will receive included with their tasting kit a full 750ml bottle of Kavalan No. 1 Distillery Select. In full, the tasting will include:
No. 1 Distillery Select. Each person will receive a full 750ml bottle of No. 1 Distillery Select, the distillery’s flagship. 43% abv
15th Anniversary - Bourbon Cask. Distilled in 2009, to our knowledge this single cask release remains the oldest Kavalan release to date (or at least it was upon its release in 2024). This was one of the first selected exceptional quality Spanish Oloroso Sherry and American ex-Bourbon casks from the distinguished 2009 vintage – a year that also marks the inaugural launch of these two casks in the Solist Series.
15th Anniversary - Oloroso Sherry Cask. This single cask sherry variant, also distilled in 2009, was released simultaneously with the Bourbon Cask above. They both retailed separately for an MSRP of $1k/bottle each.
Brand New Release: LAN. This brand new release is scheduled to land in the US sometime in May, 2026, though we have yet to see it land on a shelf as of this writing. Per the Kavalan team, this is: “an exceptional whisky crafted as a tribute to Yilan, the birthplace of Kavalan distillery. Its name, also symbolizing the Chinese character for 'orchid', beautifully reflects the island's revered standing as the Kingdom of Orchids. Refreshing vanilla notes from bourbon barrels combine with the fusion of nutty, floral aromas from port casks. Further enriched by Kavalan's STR technique, infusing the whisky with a caramelized fruity sweetness achieved through shaving, toasting, and recharring Vinho wine casks. 43% abv.
Year of the Horse: Triple Sherry Cask. Another recent special edition release (2026 is the Year of the Horse). Fully matured in Oloroso Sherry, PX Sherry, and Moscatel Sherry casks. 40% abv.
Kavalan Oloroso Sherry Oak. As we understand it, this dilutes the Solist Oloroso Sherry with Kavalan spring water to 46% abv.
