Fellow Drammers!
We’re excited to announce our annual online Springbank tasting will take place on Sunday, January 10th at Noon Pacific / 3pm Eastern in the US and 20:00 in Scotland. We are thrilled to welcome back as our guest speaker Ranald Watson, a long time friend of the club who we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming many times over the years. Over that time, he has continued to take on more and more responsibility at Springbank, and today he sits on the board of J&A Mitchell (which owns Springbank, Cadenheads and Kilkerran, among other things), and serves as their Group Sales Director. There really isn’t anyone in the world that knows more about Springbank, and he is always very generous with his knowledge at these events.
Of course, in honor of this we always want to bring bottles fit for the occasion, and that’s a tall order here. But happily our club makes the annual pilgrimage to Campbeltown for the Campbeltown Malts Festival, where they release their big annual very limited editions that you can only get if you wait in line early each morning of the festival (and of course, we make sure there is a gaggle of Drammers who do just that). This year’s bottlings do not disappoint. Since this event always generates a lot of interest, we loaded up as much as we could. Most of the bottles every will get, though two of them will be a mix, some will get one expression, some will get another, completely at random. Here is the lineup:
Springbank 30yo - 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival Bottling. Regular bottlings of Springbank 30yo go for well over $2k on a good day, and even on the off chance you could find one, a pour of Springbank 30yo at a bar would almost certainly cost you significantly more by itself than this entire kit. This festival special edition was only sold in 350ml bottles, and only 1,572 were bottled (so, less than 800 bottles worth if bottled at 700ml). Matured in Bourbon, Oloroso and Rum Casks. 47.8% abv.
Hazelburn 17yo - 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival Bottling. Again, only available at the festival on Springbank day, for those not familiar, Hazelburn is triple-distilled at Springbank (unpeated), as opposed to their iconic 2.5x distilled. Matured in Oloroso casks. 1 of 1772 350ml bottles. 49.2% abv.
Longrow 5yo - 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival Bottling. Aged in Bourbon and Chardonnay casks. Longrow is their heavily peated line, double-distilled. 1 of 1,750 350ml bottles released, 59.2% abv.
Kilkerran 12yo. This is NOT a festival bottling, although not like their regular “core” releases in the US are easy to find either. But we wanted to make sure everyone got at least one pour from the other distillery that J&A Mitchell own in Campbeltown. 46% abv.
Pour #5 - You will get one of the following at random: (A) Kilkerran 7yo Triple Distilled 2026 Campbeltown Fest bottling 56.1% OR (B) the Sprinbank 8yo Bottling Hall launch bottle, 1200 released, matured in Oloroso sherry. Here’s where we need to get a little creative. We have 2100ml of the first 4 pours, but for the 5th and 6th pours, we’re mixing-and-matching some very special bottles that we have less than 2100ml of. We were only able to get 1 bottle of the 2026 Campeltown Malts Fest release of Kilkerran, which sold out in like 30 minutes. They also released a truly exquisite release in honor of the launch of their new bottling hall, which we were able to get 2 bottles of. Each kit will come with one or the other at random (we won’t keep track of who gets what, so no point in requesting one or the other).
Pour #6 - You will get one of the following at random: (A) The Springbank 2026 Campbeltown Malts Fest Dinner bottling (Longrow 19yo Oloroso Cask) 57.7% abv from 20 May 2026, (B) an infamous cage bottle - Hazelburn 6yo in fresh sherry 58.2%, OR (C) a Springbank mystery handfill from the gift shop at 58.3% abv.
That’s our lineup, we hope you can join us. The event will take place over Zoom and we will circulate the Zoom login details closer to the event. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Drammers Club
