Hello Warsaw Drammers!
We’re putting together a last minute Drammers Warsaw tasting on Friday, February 20th at 7pm. The lineup is a little in flux (Charlie just landed in London and is going to raid his storage unit of whisky goodies tomorrow), but here’s a tentative lineup, and if we swap any of these bottles out, it’ll only be for something better). :). We’ll follow up with details on the address.
[Headliner TBA — a big ol’ Scotch Bottle] - Details TBA after Charlie raids his storage unit.
Cree Independent Bottling. Benrinnes 8yo Single Malt Scotch from the Benrinnes Distillery. Single cask, 1 of 331 bottles. Cask #316194. Matured in an Australian Cabernet Wine Barrique. 52% abv.
Paul John – Drammers Exclusive Peated Single Cask #5882. Our 37th barrel pick was selected by our US members (our Mumbai members also picked a cask), and was unusual because it was one of the few barrels they’ve released from their famous underground warehouse (which is not surprisingly fairly small). We toured it as part of our online event last year when we selected the barrel. This cask of 100% peated single malt barley was also in a 2nd fill cask, whereas almost all of Paul John’s barrels are aged in first-fill casks. 56.5% abv.
Two New Single Barrels of Found North Canadian Whisky - These are our two newest Drammers single barrel picks! Found North is the hottest Canadian whisky company to come along in a long time, and their releases rarely even touch a shelf in the United States. We recently selected these two single barrels, both bottled at cask strength made from a mix of Canadian rye, Canadian corn and Canadian barley whiskeys. One is finished in a Madeira cask, the other in a cherry liqueur cask.
Heaven Hill - Grain to Glass Bourbon 2024 Limited Edition. Normally we would think of "grain varietals" as being the exclusive domain of smaller craft distilleries, making this series of limited editions from Heaven Hill all the more remarkable. Their "Grain to Glass" series launched last year with the idea of a series of releases exploring different corn and rye grain varietals (in this case, Becks 6158). It doesn't carry an age statement, but is known to be aged 6 years, with a high-rye content (35%). 53.5% abv.
Booker’s 2025-01 - Barry’s Batch. The first US release of Booker’s 2025 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2025-01 “Barry’s Batch”. This batch is named in honor of Barry Berish, former Beam Chairman and CEO, who sadly passed early in 2024. Booker’s “Barry’s Batch” is made up of barrels from four production dates that were aged in 5 different warehouses. The age of the batch is 7 years, 2 months, and 4 days. The proof of the batch is 125.7 proof. The breakdown of barrel storage for the batch can be found here.
5 Sentidos - Tobala Mezcal by Tio Pedro. The Maestro Mezcalero behind this mezcal, Tio Pedro, has worked for many top mezcal producers over the years and recently set out on his own, where among other things he produced this small 92 liter batch. This is only just arrived (which is why it's not pictured above) and features wild tobalas he collected and distilled in Oaxaca in June of 2022. He then rested is in glass until December 2022 adjusting with heads and tails to reach the desired flavor and bottled at 47% abv. This batch was selected by our members on our annual trip to Oaxaca for Day of the Dead last year and is available exclusively to members of the club.
We hope you can join us! Your ticket includes light food (likely pizza). A big thank you to Maks Stempniewicz for organizing! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Charlie, Maks and Drammers Club
