Hello NYC Drammers,
On December 23rd at 7pm, we’re excited to welcome back Greg Swartz for a special in person tasting in NYC. Greg is of course the director of the Water of Life films, including their most recent project, Independent Spirits, a film about independent bottlings of Scotch! It’s an excellent film and many of the people who appear in the film have been guests here at Drammers Club over the years. And they’ve arranged 5 single barrel bottlings in connection with the film, all of which we’ll be tasting at this event, along with some other fun new independent bottlings of Scotch. Specifically, we’ll be tasting:
Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Mother Cask (Craigellachie 11yo), 64.3% abv
Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Ex-Rye Octave Cask (Craigellachie 11yo) 64.7% abv
Independent Spirits - The Octave Project - Ex-Bourbon Octave Cask (Craigellachie 11yo) 63.7% abv
Creetown - 14yo Dailuaine (ex-Calvados finish)
Creetown - 13yo Blair Athol (ex-Red Wine finish)
Creetown - Balmenach 10yo - Barrel 1797/2013; 52.3% vol.
Lost Lantern - Shadow and Light (Bottling for Independent Spirits Project). This whisky is a follow-up to two of our award-winning blended malts: Flame, an American mesquite-smoked blended malt, and Shadow, an American peated blended malt. Those releases explored the flavors of mesquite and peat through an American context, but separately. This release embraces both at the same time. It is an homage to the new and the old: it brings together an American take on one of the oldest types of whisky in the world, peated single malt, with a new tradition, mesquite-smoked single malt from the Southwestern United States. These come together to create a whisky that is warm and bright and cool and dark all at once.
Single Cask Nation - Independent Spirits Project Bottling (details to come)
We hope you can join us! Charlie and Summer will host at their apartment (message for details). We’ll order in pizza (included with your ticket). Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Drammers Club
