We’re thrilled to announce an exciting tasting on Saturday, March 1st at Noon Pacific / 3pm EST / 20:00 in the UK with Shona Macleod, the Master Blender for Scotland’s the Isle of Harris Distillery. The Isle of Harris Distillery is a relatively young distillery, with the first drops running off the still in Dec. 2015. They released their first single malt (“The Hearach”) in the autumn of 2023 and have continued to release them in a series of intentionally varied batches, and more recently they’ve followed that up with an Oloroso sherry cask matured variant (and a gin). At this tasting, we’ll be tasting through 8 expressions: 6 different batch releases of their Hearach single malt, plus the Oloroso release batch #3 and the gin. The single malt batches will be #10, #11, #14, #15 and #17 (and likely #16 as well, but we’re still confirming that). As for our guest speaker Shona, she grew up on the Isle of Harris where her family owned a hotel, and became part of the original “Tarbert Ten” employees that started the project in 2014. All of the “Tarbert Ten” were tested for sensory skills and Shona emerged as the leading talent on the team, simple as that!

At this tasting, we’ll also be thrilled to welcome back Robin Coupar, a longtime friend of the club who we previously welcomed as a Global Brand Ambassador for Glen Grant, and now he has joined the Isle of Harris team. We’ll also be joined by Charlotte Foulds, the US brand ambassador for the Isle of Harris, based in Austin, Texas, and Iona Cairns, the International Brand Development Manager, based in Glasgow. In other words, we’re going to have a big chunk of the brain trust of the distillery joining us, making this a particularly rare opportunity to do a deep dive into all aspects of the distillery.
