Feb. 19: Online Tasting with Lost Lantern Co-Founder Nora Ganley-Roper......
Fellow Drammers!
We’re excited to announce a special tasting on February 19th (starting at 5pm Pacific, 8pm EST) with Nora Ganley-Roper, the Co-Founder and General Manager of the ground-breaking independent bottler Lost Lantern. This relatively new company launched with their first release in October of 2020 and today it is still one of the only independent bottlers of American Spirits. Their track record speaks for itself, as they have time and again shown that they have their finger on the pulse of where to find great American bourbons, ryes, American Single Malts and more.
We’re incredibly proud to say that in connection with this event, we brought in the entire range of Lost Lantern products to our retail partner DRINQY.com including 19 expressions that are long since sold out by Lost Lantern.
At this event, we’ll be tasting through 10 expressions, a mix of their in-house blends, exciting new single distillery releases, long since sold out expressions, and arguably their impossible-to-find most talked about release to date. We’re incredibly proud to say that in connection with this event, we brought in the entire range of Lost Lantern products to our retail partner DRINQY.com including 19 expressions that are long since sold out by Lost Lantern. Check out this lineup:
Rock Town. 4yo Single Barrel Bourbon from Arkansas’ first legal distillery since prohibition. 1 of 200 bottles. 58.8% abv ($89.99 / bottle)
Desert Dessert. This sold out expression from Lost Lantern is a single malt combination of 3x 15 gallon barrels from the Del Bac Distillery in Southern Arizona. The distillery famously smokes 40% of their barley with mesquite wood, and this was finished in ex-Sauternes and Pineau des Charentes casks. 1 of 450 bottles, 56.9% abv ($109.99 / bottle)
Far Flung Bourbon II. We’re especially interested in Lost Lantern’s blends. This is a blend of straight bourbons from five distilleries from the eastern half of the United States, ranging from cooler northern climates to the hot, humid Deep South (Starlight, Kings County, Rich Grain Distilling, Smooth Ambler, Wollersheim). 63.3% abv, 1 of 697 bottles. ($99.99 / bottle)
Far Flung Rye. This is a blend of straight ryes, ranging from four to nine years old, from five of the finest distilleries in the Midwest (Cedar Ridge, Middle West, Starlight, Tom’s Foolery, Wollersheim). 1 of 486 bottles, 60.8% abv ($99.99 / botttle)
American Vatted Malt #1. This is one of the first blends of single malts ever made in the United States. Distillers from Balcones, Copperworks, Sante Fe Spirits, Triple Eight, Westward and Virginia Distillery Co. worked together to create this unique blend of their whiskies. 12 barrel blend from six distilleries. 1 of 3,000 bottles. 52.5% abv ($99.99 / bottle)
Flame. This two-barrel blend is a combination of mesquite-smoked single malts from Whiskey Del Bac in Arizona and Santa Fe Spirits in New Mexico. The result is a warm, bright, and smoky whiskey with notes of charred oranges, chili chocolate, and smoked meats. 1 of 400 bottles, 57% abv ($99.99 / bottle)
Shadow. This is a blend of peated single malts from Cedar Ridge in Iowa, Boulder Spirits in Colorado, and McCarthy’s in Oregon. It has rich oak flavor, deep smoke, and notes of roasted blackberries and plums. 1 of 500 bottles. 63.2% abv ($99.99 / bottle)
Boulder Spirits Armagnac Finished Bourbon. This was the first finished bourbon released by Lost Lantern, made from Boulder Spirits’ unusual high-malt mashbill, first aged for 4.5 years in new oak and then finished for 2.5 years in an Armagnac cask. 1 of 300 bottles, 62.8% abv ($119.99 / bottle)
Middle West Ohio Rye. This sold out expression from Lost Lantern is a unique four-grain straight rye whiskey made with dark pumpernickel rye grain, giving it a full, toasty, chocolatey, and earthy flavor. It was aged for 4 years in a 53-gallon new oak barrel from Speyside Cooperage. It has notes of rich chocolate mousse and warm rye spice on the nose, with cocoa nibs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and leatherbound books on the palate. 63% abv, 1 of 197 bottles. ($89.99 / bottle)
Breuckelen Malted Wheat. Of all the many releases from Lost Lantern, this is widely seen as the Goat. It’s the most sought-after, talked-about release they’ve ever done, and incredibly, they let us bring a handful of their archive bottles in to our retail partner DRINQY.com in connection with this event. Made with 100% malted red wheat, this eight-year-old single cask has a deep, rich, and powerful flavor but a soft texture, with notes of rich oak, chocolate banana bread, cranberry teacake, and ginger spice. 1 of 165 bottles, 69.5% abv ($124.99 / bottle)
That’s our (extraordinary!) lineup, we hope you can join us! Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Cheers,
