Feb. 2: Drammers Singapore...
Hello Singapore Drammers!
We're excited to invite you to our kickoff whisky tasting to launch Drammers Singapore on the 2nd of February at 19:00. Our Singapore chapter is starting because members from our Mumbai and Warsaw chapters both moved to Singapore, started hanging out to drink great whisky, and asked if we could start a chapter, so here we are! That's basically what Drammers Club is all about right there -- a global network of fun people who enjoy great whisky and other spirits. We currently host events regularly in 43 cities around the world, and we like to say that members of the club have drinking buddies waiting for them just about anywhere they get off a plane. Some of the Bottles We’ll Be Drinking at the Event:
Thompson Bros. - 28yo Bunnahabhain and 22yo Ben Nevis, Single Malt Scotch. Our headliners for this event will be two special single barrels from our friends the Thompson Bros, who have made quite a name for themselves, building not only the Dornoch Castle distillery, but the Thompson Bros. line of independent bottlings. Here we've got two gems that are long since sold out -- we've been saving them for a special occasion. One is a single barrel from the Bunnahabhain distillery, aged a whopping 28 years, and bottled at 42.5%, one of only 257 bottles ever released. The other is also very exciting -- a single cask from the Ben Nevis distillery, aged 22 years and bottled at 44.4% abv. We'll get into the history of both of these great distilleries at the event, but for now suffice it to say that 28 year old single malt scotch is always cause for celebration!
Highland Park - Drammers Club Barrel Pick. Next up we're going to turn up the heat -- literally, this single cask that our club selected is bottled at a stunning 63.9% abv. It is not finished in a sherry cask, rather it was aged all 13 years in a 1st fill sherry butt, making for an unmistakable sherry bomb. It is also aged in European oak, and perhaps more than any other single barrel we've tasted, the distinct dried fruits and spice notes that you associate with European oak are really easy to see here. Truly delicious.
Starward Australian Single Malt Whisky - Drammers Single Barrel Pick. Next we'll taste a single barrel of single malt whisky, but this time from Melbourne, Australia, home to Starward whisky. Our club picked this single cask in a special online tasting with their founder David Vitale, a recording of which our members can find up at Drammers.com in our extensive "Video Library". Starward specializes in whisky that is matured in big red Aussie wine barrels, and this cask from the Barosso valley is no exception. You'll definitely want to try this both neat and then again with a little water added. 55.5% abv.
Frey Ranch 4 Grain Bourbon - Drammers Single Barrel. Next we'll turn to the bourbon side of whisky, with one of the hottest up and coming distilleries in the United States. Frey Ranch is located in Fallon, near Reno Nevada and not too far from Las Vegas. This distillery is doing everything right, and this particular barrel features 4 grains in the mashbill (corn, rye, wheat and barley). Take our word for it that you're going to be hearing a lot more about this distillery in the years to come, though as of today it's still pretty hard to track down bottles of their whisky. 58.6% abv.
And those are just 5 of the bottles we'll be tasting at the event -- we'll be adding a couple surprise additional pours as well, and we'll have some light snacks on hand to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach. We hope you can join us!
What Is Drammers Club?
If you’re new to Drammers, welcome! We're a whisky and spirits club that started in 2013, and today we organize regular tastings like this in over 40 cities around the world, currently extending across the United States, Mexico, Canada, the UK, Europe, Turkey, Israel, India and Singapore! We are an invite-only club, which is mostly just to make sure that everyone is on the same page about drinking responsibly and being friendly. Anyone who has been to one of our events is welcome to invite their friends to join, including at our other cities around the world.
If you know a lot about whiskey, you’ve come to the right place, there are a lot of us here, ha. But it’s okay if you don’t know anything about whiskey too — we can teach you that easily enough. We try to host events in each of our chapter cities approximately every 8 weeks or so in person, and we also host regular online events and group trips for a chance to meet some of your fellow Drammers around the world, which you can see below.
We also do barrel picks — a lot of them! We’ve done 85 barrel picks in the last couple of years, with a lot more in the works, that are available exclusively to members of our club, including one that is currently available exclusively to our members in Europe (details below).
