We’re thrilled to announce our annual tasting with Springbank’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Ranald Watson on Sunday, September 15th, starting at Noon Pacific / 3pm Eastern in the US, 20:00 in Scotland. We’ll be tasting 6 expressions, and (as in past years), the focus will be on the special “Open Day” bottles that we picked up at the Campbeltown Malts Festival earlier this year in May. Each year, Springbank fans from around the world descend on the distillery for an epic festival day, and the distillery releases a special bottle that you can only pick up in person at the festival that morning. We picked up them all (Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn and Kilkerran) so that you, our members, could try them. We’ll also be trying a Springbank 15yo as a comparison and everyone will get a pour of one of Springbank’s legendary “cage bottles” (we’re keeping exactly what it is a secret). So, specifically, we’ll be tasting:
Longrow 16yo - Open Day 2024 Bottling. Only 2,200 375ml bottles were released. Ruby Port Casks, 54.7% abv
Hazelburn 8yo - Open Day 2024 Bottling. Only 2,200 375ml bottles released, Bourbon & Oloroso casks, 52.8% abv.
Springbank 10yo - Open Day 2024 Bottling. Only 2,200 375ml bottles released. Fijian rum casks. 57.1% abv.
Kilkerran 20yo - Open Day 2024 Bottling. Released in 375ml bottles, unsure on how many. 49.2% abv.
Springbank 15yo - The classic core range offering, 46% abv. We’ll start with this one as a reference point.
One of Springbank’s Legendary “Cage Bottles” — only available at the distillery, one per person per week. Might be any of their labels, it is 15yo and at cask strength, but beyond that we’re keeping it a surprise.
