Hello NYC Drammers!

We’re thrilled to invite you to a special tasting on Friday, Oct. 18th at 7pm at Raine’s Law Room (24 E 39th St) with Compass Box’s new Head Whiskymaker James Saxon (he was promoted to that role in the wake of John Glaser’s departure earlier this year). Compass Box has been going through extraordinary changes in the last year, discontinuing two of their core range expressions (The Story of the Spaniard and Spice Tree), switched another cult favorite (Hedonism) from a regular release to a once-a-year limited edition, introduced two new expressions (Nectarosity and Crimson Casks), shut down their single cask program (we got the last one in the US!) and made some key changes to their team, not least of which involved founder John Glaser stepping down and his apprentice James stepping up to lead whiskymaker. In other words, there is a new team that is really putting their own stamp on things.

And, if you haven’t been to Raine’s Law Room before, it’s one of the higher end swanky cocktail spots in the city, very fun spot. The tasting will include a welcome cocktail using their new Nectarosity expression, then we’ll work through their brand new core range (two of the new expressions only were released for the first time last month) — so Orchard House, Nectarosity, Crimson Casks and their longtime hit Peat Monster. Then we’ll try one of their limited edition Extinct Blends Quartet releases, and close out with a finale cocktail centered around their other new release — Crimson Casks. There will be passed appetizers, cheese and charcuterie on hand to munch on.

We hope you can join us! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Charlie and Drammers Club
