Ashok Chokalingam, head distiller and head of global sales for Amrut Indian Single Malt, will be in NYC as our guest speaker on Sunday, October 16th at 3pm! Ashok needs no introduction of course, he’s a legend in the industry, having done so much to help launch and build Amrut’s incredible global reputation starting from scratch. In more recent years, he has returned to the distillery to take on the role of head distiller and head of international sales working from the distillery in Bangalore. He has won just about every award you can think of, including being named one of the "Icons of Whisky" multiple times by Whisky Magazine. During his tenure, he has helped pioneer some ground-breaking experiments like the Fusion cask series, and their Two Continents release. We’ve had the privilege of welcoming Ashok in person back in 2018 and most recently we welcomed him for a great online tasting during the pandemic. As you can probably tell, we’re very excited to welcome him back!

As for the lineup, we’re finalizing it now, but it will at least include the much-talked-about Fusion XI, which is a super limited edition of less than 1,000 bottles worldwide (something like only 12 bottles are coming to NY State total). According to the Amrut team, “it was intended as a tribute to our late Chairman, Neelakanta Rao Jagdale, and to celebrate the 11th Anniversary of our iconic brand Amrut Fusion. This special edition of Fusion XI is a concoction of different barrels by our Head Distiller [Ashok] to reveal the depth and complexity of this finest single malt whisky.”. We’ll also be tasting a new Aatma Marsala single cask, a single grain single cask from Amrut, one of their rums, and of course our Drammers-exclusive Amrut finished in an ex-rye cask (which members can get here). We’ll also have their single malt and cask strength single malt core range releases and likely a couple other fun surprises.
