Fellow Drammers!

Our next in person event in Las Vegas will take place on Monday, November 22nd at 7pm. We’ve assembling a great lineup of bottles to taste:

  • Amrut Indian Single Malt - Ex-Rye Cask. This one is hot off the presses -- a single barrel of Amrut's Indian Single Malt -- made like a scotch, but in Bangalore, India. The hotter climate there means this whisky ages a lot differently than a scotch, with delightful results, and here it was aged in an ex-rye cask, a rare offering from the distillery (we previously tried a similar Amrut ex-rye cask bottled by our friends at La Maison du Whisky in Paris a few years ago. This is a Drammers exclusive single barrel pick, and is bottled at 60.2% abv.

  • Frey Ranch 4 Grain Bourbon. This farmer husband-and-wife team are taking bourbon to the next level -- all the whisky they make uses grains they grow themselves on their generations-old farm just outside Reno, Nevada. Initially conceived as a way to show off the quality of their grains, it has taken on a life of its own, and this is the first single barrel they have allowed outside of the Nevada and California markets (it was selected by our members as a Drammers exclusive bottling).

  • Stellum Single Barrel Rye (Serpens). The new Stellum line from our friends at Barrell Craft Spirits has arrived, and we were proud to select a private barrel of their rye just for our club. At only $59/bottle, it was the easily standout favorite for the price at our event in Charlotte a couple days ago. The “Serpens” name refers to the mashbill (95% rye, 5% malted barley), and of course it is bottled at cask strength.

  • Kilchoman Drammers Single Barrel - STR cask finish single malt. Another single barrel, this time hailing from Islay, and as you would expect from (most) Islay whiskies, it is plenty peaty and plenty smoky. This is a single barrel Drammers Club pick that was finished in an STR cask and bottled as always at cask strength.

  • Michel Couvreur - Overaged French Single Malt. Next up we’ve got a French whisky, a single malt from the esteemed Michel Couvreur line, who we welcomed last May for our World Whisky Day celebrations. Btw, don’t be thrown off by the “overaged” name, that’s a bit of a lost-in-translation concept as we learned at World Whisky Day. It’s actually their best-selling product…

  • Rezpiral Mezcal - Reina Sanchez Madrecuishe. This one arrived less than a week ago, one of two new batches of mezcal we selected exclusively for our club. We celebrated its arrival with a visit by our club to Reina’s palenque (distillery) in Oaxaca Mexico a couple weeks ago, when 22 of our members were there for the Day of the Dead festivities, and we have pictures we can share from that. We followed that up with a launch party in Boston this past Sunday with the founder of Rezpiral, Alex White, who was in town from Oaxaca visiting his parents. It’s an extraordinary batch from one of the most famous women master mezcal producers in all of the world of mezcal.

  • Great Jones Distillery - Rye. Hot off the presses! This distillery opened in NYC two months ago, and we were there at the launch with a big party. Although they’ve only been distilling at their Manhattan location for 2 months, a few years ago they bought a distillery (Black Dirt) located about an hour North of Manhattan and started working on a signature flavor profile there, so that they were able to have bottles for sale the day they opened on Broadway. This is one of the bottles in their first batch of Great Jones Rye! 43% abv.

That’s our lineup! And there’s a good chance we’ll have a couple additional pours leftover from our events earlier in the week in Indianapolis, Seattle, Portland, San Fran and Los Angeles. We’ll also have food as usual. We hope you can join us!

Cheers,
Drammers Club
