Hello Austin Drammers!

We’e got great news — BOTH Jason Johnstone-Yellin and Joshua Hatton are coming to Austin for a special Drammers tasting on May 22nd at 7pm. (Address: 1203 Dusky Thrush Trail, 78746).

We are SO excited. If you don’t know who these guys are, they are the founders of Single Cask Nation, a great independent bottler of whisky, rum and more. And they are one hot commodity right now — a couple months ago their company was acquired by Artisanal Spirits, the same parent company that owns Scotch Malt Whisky Society. And that’s great news for us whisk(e)y fans: Joshua and Jason have a knack for finding the best single casks, and they now have access to a whole new untapped world of casks.

We’re proud to call them members of the club, not to mention dear friends. We have been very proud to work with them many times throughout the years — they even featured Drammers Club on not one but TWO episodes of their wonderful podcast One Nation Under Whisky. That second episode was from a live event we did in Chicago to celebrate their 10 year anniversary, where we picked a single barrel of SCN just for our members — a single cask of Inchgower that was ultimately bottled at 11yo after finishing for 26 months in a sherry cask. Joshua has called it one of the 10 best releases they’ve ever done, and we couldn’t agree more. That’s just arrived, and will be included in this tasting. Joshua is also bringing an array of other fun bottles to taste, for what will be a very special tasting.

We’ve long wanted to welcome Joshua and Jason in Austin — a big shoutout to Kellie Noaks for making this happen and to Juan and Denise for hosting! Kellie will be running point for the evening along with David Feldner (your regular co-hosts, Charlie and Dan, are devastated to have to miss it, as we’ll both be out of town).

So we have a favor to ask of you, our members — please help spread the word and invite some friends to this event. We want to make sure to show Joshua and Jason a great turnout. It’s a little crazy that this opportunity popped up back-to-back with our event the night before with James Saxon, the new Director of Whiskymaking at Compass Box, so of course we wanted to take them both up on the offer, but we know that may split the attendance up a bit, so if you can think of anyone to invite to make sure we have a great turnout for both, now would be a great time — we’d certainly be very grateful!

Cheers,
Charlie, Dan and Drammers Club
