Hello NYC Drammers!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 29th at 7pm at The Flatiron Room! The Flatiron Room is turning 10 years old, and we want to help Tommy and the team celebrate. The lineup is still a work in progress, but here’s what we’ve got so far, and keep in mind that we’ll likely add to this or if we shake it up it will only be to bring in even bigger bottles:

  • Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt - The Lighthouse 12yo (Distillery Exclusive). Glenmorangie just opened a new highly secretive experimental distillery up in the Highlands of Scotland — they ran the first distillation on it just two weeks ago! In honor of its opening, they released a special bottling only available at the distillery itself, so unless you happened to be there 2 weeks ago, you're unlikely to come across it. Happily, we went out there for the opening of the distillery and picked up a bottle for us to try in Boston (bottle #985 of 4782). It’s a 12yo blend of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, arguably making it a more nuanced version of their popular Lasanta release (also a 12yo release, but using more sherry casks). 48% abv.

  • Strathmill 25yo Single Malt Scotch. This Europe-only release from the Speyside Strathmill distillery was picked up at auction, an independent bottling from “Dram Senior”. Cask number 2252, distilled May 4, 1990, bottled July 30, 2015. Matured entirely in a sherry butt. 53.6% abv.

  • Eagle Rare 10yo - Single Barrel Selected by Drammers Indianapolis. What better way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Flatiron Room than with this special 10yo single barrel? It was selected by members of our Indianapolis chapter and has only just arrived! 45% abv.

  • Old Elk 6yo Straight Wheat Whiskey. We’ve been hearing about Old Elk a lot more outside of NYC than we have inside of it, so we picked up a single barrel from one of our retail friends in Las Vegas for the members to try. Old Elk of course hired master distiller Greg Metze, formerly the Master Distiller at MGP, which immediately put them on the map to say the least. 56.7% abv.

  • Pike Creek 21yo Canadian Whisky, Finished in Speyside Single Malts Casks. One of the special releases from our friends at Pike Creek, this was released in 2017 as part of their Northern Border Collection, intended as a collection of rare, one-of-a-kind, limited-release Canadian whiskies. To our knowledge, it was never made available in the United States, or likely anywhere outside of Canada. 45% abv.

So that’s what we’ve got so far for the lineup, but as noted above, the lineup is still a work in progress, and we’ll likely add to this. Details to come, but please go ahead and RSVP! The event will take place at The Flatiron Room.
