Hello Seattle Drammers!
Our next Drammers Seattle tasting is on Sunday, June 19th at 6pm — and since that is Father’s Day, anyone who signs up can bring their dad for free! We’ve got two big guest speakers — Tal Chotiner, the Head of International Sales for Israel’s M&H Distillery (formerly known as Milk & Honey Distillery), and David Cover, the Global Brand Ambassador for Penderyn distillery in Wales. Our club is fortunate to have had a long relationship with both of our guests, having welcomed them both online and in person a number of times over the years, most recently to our members in Washington DC a few months back. They’re both incredibly knowledgeable, not to mention just fun, nice people. And happily we’ve got some fun bottles to include in the tasting. Carolyn Sellar has generously agreed to host us in her back yard (thanks Carolyn!) - her address is 22627 Meridian Ave. South, Bothell, 98021. Now on to what we’ll be drinking — we’ll likely have more expressions even than this, so you’ll have the opportunity to pick and choose what you want to try. But at a minimum it will include:
Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Single Cask, Aged 9 years, ex-Oloroso sherry, cask #575, bottle #121 of 260, 59.98% abv. This was a single barrel selected by our friends at the great Jack Rose Dining Saloon in Washington DC.
Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Single Cask, Aged 8 years, ex-Moscatel cask, cask #M2, bottle #209 of 264, 60.09% abv. This was the other of two single barrels recently selected by our friends at Jack Rose.
Penderyn Single Malt - US Exclusive Small Batch (new!)
2 Penderyn core range single malts - both the Madeira and Rich Oak expressions
M&H Distillery - Drammers Exclusive Single Barrel #47 - Fortified Red Wine cask. Distilled January 11th, 2018, bottled May 18th, 2021. Cask #2018-0520. 1 of 337 bottles. 64.7% abv
M&H Distillery - Drammers Exclusive Single Barrel #48 - Ex-Rum Cask. Distilled December 31, 2017, Bottled on May 18, 2021. 1 of 178 bottles. Cask #2017-0380. 66.7% abv.
M&H Distillery - Drammers Exclusive Single Barrel #49 - STR Cask. Distilled December 24, 2017, bottled May 18, 2021, 1 of 243 bottles. Cask #2017-0363. 69.4% abv.
M&H Dad #1 - This Europe-only bottling is generously being contributed by Elijah, the head of our Seattle chapter, and what could be more appropriate than this for our event on Father’s Day!
M&H Classic - And naturally we’ll include the benchmark Classic expression from M&H as a baseline to compare the special releases to.
That’s our lineup! Or at least as far as we know — always a (small) possibility a bottle breaks en route or something else requires we shakeup the lineup. More likely we’ll just add something to it, ha. Needless to say, an uber or other ride of some kind is highly recommended. We’ll have complimentary food on hand (likely pizza) as well. We hope you can join us!
