Hello Philadelphia Drammers!

Our next rare bourbon and scotch tasting is on for next week on Wednesday, June 12th at 7pm.  A big thank you once again to Andrew for hosting us at the Philadelphia Film Center (address is 1412 Chestnut Street, 19102).  Check out the lineup below (8 expressions in total). As always, we’ll order in pizza (included) to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach. We hope you can join us!

Cheers,
Charlie, Andrew, Mark and Drammers Club

BOTTLE LINEUP FOR THE EVENT:

  • 2 Different 1792 Bourbon Single Barrels.  Our club selected two single barrels from this great distillery (one was selected by our Boston chapter, the other by our Charlotte chapter).  They are wildly different -- one has distinct gin notes!  Exclusively available to Members and Observers of Drammers Club.  62.5% abv.

  • Doritos x Empirical.  This much-talked-about expression has been written off by some as a gimmick.  That would be to seriously underestimate the people making it.  It is vacuum distilled, using a base malt that is fermented with Kogi, and then an entire bag of nacho cheese Doritos was macerated into each bottle! Needs to be tasted to be believed.  Do a little research on Empirical, and you'll see that their biggest customers around the world are mostly Michelin-starred restaurants and many of America's most famous high-end cocktail bars.

  • 2 Expressions from the R6 Distillery - High Rye Bourbon and American Single Malt.  We recently became acquainted with this long-standing distillery in Los Angeles (El Segundo neighborhood), and brought in a range of their bourbons and single malts.  They recently launched a new line, the "Stock Exchange Club of Los Angeles" with us, and we selected 3 single barrels that we'll be receiving soon.  This high-rye bourbon is wild.  We'll also try one of their single malts at this tasting.

  • Spirits of French Lick - 4.5yo Bourbon.  We recently selected this single barrel from the Spirits of French Lick Distillery, which is located in Indiana (and no, it's not MGP, they have their own distillery).  Their Head Distiller was Alan Bishop, formerly the head distiller at Copper & Kings distillery in Louisville, though Alan recently announced he was leaving to start his own distillery, making this one of the last single barrels released before he left.

  • Inchgower 11yo Sherry Matured from Single Cask Nation.  We have long been fans of these independent bottlers, who were recently acquired by the same parent company behind SMWS.  Our first Drammers single cask with them was matured a whopping 26 months in a 1st fill sherry hogshead, and it is a belter.  Many, including SCN founder Joshua Hatton, are calling it one of the top 10 SCN bottles ever released.

  • Compass Box - Glasgow Blend, Drammers Exclusive Single Marrying Cask.  Compass Box is famous for making BLENDED Scotch premium again, creating ultra-high end blends of malt whisky and grain whisky.  They recently announced they were shutting down their single cask program -- where they create a blend and then "Marry" it in a single cask, in this case an ex-Cameronbridge cask.  We were proud to get one of the last (possibly *the* last) single cask in that program, which (we might add) is very reasonably priced.
