Fellow Drammers!
Bimber is finally coming to the United States! We’ve been counting the seconds until this moment — of all the distilleries to emerge in the London area in recent years, this one has really stood out for us. I mean, how many craft distilleries have you heard of that make their own barrels! That’s what first got our attentions, so we made a point to visit their distillery as soon as they launched their first whisky in September of 2019, and THEN we tried the whisky. WHOA. Gigantic flavor, so many fun experiments, we signed up as a Founding Member on the spot (toggle the picture to see our certificate). We followed that up with a distillery tour with our London chapter in February of last year right before the pandemic, and then welcomed their team as our guest speakers for our kickoff online event in April of last year. Since then we’ve been patiently (impatiently?) waiting for their arrival on US shores, and that moment has come. Of course, we’ve saved some incredible bottles over that time period specifically for that event, and these are bottles we can pretty much guarantee you’ll never see again, plus of course their initial US core range releases! 8 expressions, drumroll please….
2019 Founders Collection Single Malt London Whisky. Good luck finding one of these bottles ever again — only 140 bottles were created and only given to the handful of Founder Members like us, from their very first release (bottled in June of 2019, 3 months before their first public release). Its matured in an ex-bourbon cask (barrel #16!) and bottled at 51.81% abv. We received one bottle when we signed up as a Founding Member, and we’ve been saving it for this moment. We’ve only see this come up at auction once, where it went for US$850.
Oloroso Cask, Batch #2. Released in February 2020 right as our London chapter visited their distillery, this takes their Single Malt London Whisky and finishes it in a Spanish Oloroso Sherry Butt, bottled at 51.7% abv. 1 of only 920 bottles and of course long gone.
Peated Cask, Batch No. 1. We just picked this bottle up at auction, and it hasn’t even arrived yet, so we don’t know all the details on how it was peated. We do know it was bottled in July of 2020 at 54.1% abv and is one of 1750 bottles.
Virgin Oak Matured, German edition. Bottled in October of 2020, as the name implies this has their single malt matured in an ex-bourbon cask, at 58.3% abv and is one of 271 bottles released, bottled exclusively for Kirsch Import (cask #96).
Ex-Bourbon Cask Batch No. 1. Bottled in May of 2020, one of 1,948 bottles, 54.1% abv.
New US Release - Cask # 45 - Sherry finish
New US Release - Cask # 95 - Virgin American Oak matured
New US Release - Cask # 154 - Bourbon cask matured!
That’s our lineup! And joining us, we’re thrilled to welcome Dariusz Plazewski, their founder and head distiller, along with Raj Sabharwal, the Founding partner of Glass Revolution, who is their importer here in the US. So excited for this event, we hope you can join us!
When: The event will start at Noon Pacific / 3pm Eastern / 20:00 in London
Cheers,
Charlie
