Jan. 30: Drammers Long Beach Island with NJ's own 3BR Distillery!...
Drammers Club is Launching an LBI Chapter!
You're invited to a whiskey and spirits tasting this Friday, June 30th at 7pm. Our friends James and Deborah Reda have generously offered to host (their address is: 52 Auburn Rd., Long Beach Township, 08008). We'll be tasting through at least 8 expressions, and the focus will be on our guest speaker -- Alex Zhdanov, the Co-CEO and Head Distiller of 3BR Distillery, which is located in Keyport, NJ. They are making some incredibly interesting spirits including:
Gorovka, a spirit made from aged peas!
their Hopped Agave Spirit Sochny
their whiskey "Viski" (you'll see from their website, they have a Soviet theme drawing on the recipes of their great grandfather, who illicitly distilled in Russia), and
their Soviet rum, which they call XABAHA.
To round things out, we'll taste 3 other whiskies and a mezcal, which you can read about in more detail below. We'll also have light snacks on hand, likely pizza (included) to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach! The goal is to do the event roughly at cost, where we split the cost of the bottles and the snacks. More info about our club is below. We hope you can join us!
Cheers!

Additional Expressions we’ll be Trying:
Loch Lomond, Highland Single Malt Scotch, aged 12 years in a 1st fill Bordeaux hogshead cask. 55% abv.
Frey Ranch Bourbon. This distillery is located on a farm in Fallon, Nevada, where they grow all the grains that go into their whiskey. This bourbon is (unusually) made up of 4 grains: corn, rye, wheat and barley. 58.56% abv. To our knowledge, this is not yet available in NJ.
Paul John Peated Indian Single Malt. Our members in Mumbai helped us select this special cask of whiskey made just like a Scotch, but in Goa India, where it is aged underground to slow down the maturing process. 56.5% abv.
Bertha Vasquez - 100% Tepextate Mezcal by Rezpiral. The mezcal world is very much male dominated, making it all the more impressive that Bertha Vasquez has risen to be recognized as one of the greatest mezcal producers in the world. This is one of her rarest ever releases, in no small part because the tepextate agave plant takes over 22 years to grow before it can be harvested. 48.8% abv.
