Hello NYC Drammers!

You’re invited to join us for a special tasting on January 27th at 7pm at the Aftermath bar, which is right on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border. Our guest speaker will be Chris Barry, a longtime friend of the club across his career in the spirits industry, and currently he is a brand ambassador for the Heaven Hill portfolio, including the Widow Jane Distillery, which will be the focus of this tasting. Widow Jane is of course based here in NYC, located in Red Hook. And while they distill their own whiskey, they have also made a big name for themselves sourcing whiskey from Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana and artfully blending it. We’ll be trying some of both! Some of the lineup we know, some of it will be a surprise bonus when we get there (in Chris’ words, he’s going to go to the distillery when he lands and see what goodies he can dig up). But that would likely be on top of or better than the following tentative lineup:

  • The Vaults 15yo Bourbon. A limited edition blend of 15yo whiskey finished in amburana casks. 46.5% abv

  • Lucky Thirteen Bourbon. 13yo bourbon aged in their Red Hook warehouses. 46.5% abv.

  • Decadence 10yo Bourbon. Finished in maple syrup casks! 45.5% abv.

  • 10yo Bourbon. 45% abv.

  • Baby Jane Bourbon. Unlike the whiskies above, this features some of their own Brooklyn distillate, which is blended together with whiskey sourced from an unnamed distillery in Kentucky. It does not carry an age statement but is reported to be aged between 4 and 6 years. It is also made using a heirloom corn varietal — which is proprietary, so exclusive to Widow Jane. Bottled at 45.5% abv.

  • Paradigm Rye - Now switching from bourbon to rye whiskey, this marries spirit distilled in Red Hook blended with hand-selected rye whiskeys from Kentucky and Indiana. 46.5% abv

  • Applewood Rye - This takes the Paradigm Rye whiskey described above and then to add fruit notes to the expression they’ve added fresh cut Applewood Staves alongside the oak. 46.5% abv.
