Hello Gulf Coast Drammers!

We're excited to announce our first Drammers Club event in the Sarasota area on Wednesday, March 13th at 7pm!  We've assembled a great mix of rare bourbon, scotch and even a little rum for you to try (you can find details on what we'll be drinking below).  We'll also have a table for our club at the Whiskey & Barrel Nite festival the next night in Tampa.  A big thank you to Turner for organizing!  We'll circulate the address to those who sign up.

We'll have some light food on hand (likely pizza) to make sure nobody's drinking on an empty stomach, and as always we strongly encourage everyone to arrange a ride home.

We hope you can join us, and feel free to invite friends to join.

Cheers,
Charlie, Turner and Drammers Club

BOTTLE LINEUP FOR THE EVENT:

  • Bardstown Bourbon Co. - Single Barrel Bourbon. This single barrel just arrived, part of the launch of the first-ever single barrel program from Bardstown Bourbon Co. They selected only 100 barrels of their Origins profile (60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley), all aged 6 years, for the entire US, and it only yielded a surprisingly low 138 bottles. Bottled at cask strength exclusively for members of Drammers Club.

  • Green River - Single Barrel KY Straight Bourbon. This single barrel also just arrived from Bardstown’s sister distillery (Bardstown acquired the historic distillery in 2022 and both launched their single barrel programs at the end of 2023, though reportedly only something like 40 barrels were released as part of their inaugural year). This was also aged 6 years, but it is so different, with big eucalpytus / minty notes going into the finish. It is technically “Full Proof” - 59.5% abv / 119 proof (in other words, close to cask strength, but diluted slightly so they don’t have to submit TTB labels for approval for each barrel). Damn fine bourbon. The barrel yielded 156 bottles, mashbill:  70% Corn, 21% Rye, 9% Malted Barley).

  • Glen Scotia Master Cask Collection - Drammers Exclusive Single Cask.   Our 3rd single barrel pick with the distillery, selected by our members in Dallas.  We’re very proud to have a great relationship with this distillery, having recently had the honor of arranging a 5 city US tour for their Master Distiller Iain McAlister in October for his first-ever trip to the United States.  This single barrel is matured in a first fill Oloroso hogshead (unpeated, 6yo, 56.5% abv), 1 of 230 bottles.

  • Atelier Vie - RIZ Louisiana Whiskey - Experimental Single Cask.  This is truly a one-of-a-kind barrel, the first experimental brown rice whiskey made by Jedd, the founder of this distillery in New Orleans (it's a variant of his white rice whiskey).  It was aged 3 years and 7 months and bottled at cask strength of 61.52% abv.  Btw, the angels share was quite high — the barrel only yielded 72 bottles.

  • Proof & Wood Curated Collection.  Drammers Pick #100!  In honor of the 10 year anniversary of Drammers Club, we bottled this special bourbon, aged 10 years.  It was distilled at MGP Distillery, and features an unusual mashbill of 99% corn, 1% malted barley.  Big mouthfeel on this one.  56.3% abv, 1 of 144 bottles.

  • Spirits of French Lick - The Mattie Gladden 4yo Bourbon.  This is our newest single barrel, distilled at the wildly innovative Spirits of French Lick Distillery in Indiana (not MGP, ha).  We've been tracking the team behind this distillery ever since Alan Bishop, their head distiller was recruited away from Copper & Kings distillery in Louisville.  Technically it's aged 4.5 years, 51.65% abv.  his is some delicious bourbon.

  • Starlight Bourbon Finished in a Grape Brandy Cask.  This is our 3rd single barrel pick from the Starlight Distillery, located in southern Indiana near Louisville.  This time it's a 4yo bourbon finished in Grape Brandy casks and bottled at cask strength.  Delicious stuff.

  • Rolling Fork Brazilian Rum. This was selected by our Drammers Indy chapter, 12yo Brazilian rum distilled at the Epris distillery.  It wasn't finished in an amburana cask, rather it was partially matured in an amburana cask -- as amburana casks can be overpowering, they later transferred it to an ex-bourbon cask to mellow out a bit before bottling.  Bottled at cask strength, naturally.  55.05% abv.
