Hello Princeton Drammers!

We're delighted to invite you to join us for a rare whisky tasting on Sunday, February 19th, starting at 7pm.  We will probably be meeting at Tiger Labs, where we launched the chapter back in February 2020 before covid intervened.  We say "probably" only because there's a small chance we'll end up needing to move it, but very likely it'll be there (address:  252 Nassau St, NJ 08542).  If all goes well, our goal is organize events going forward every two months or so, and you can find more information about our club below.

As for what we'll be drinking on the 19th, you could say we got our hands on a super rare bottle we've been trying to find for years (you can read about it in detail below), and decided to work backwards from there.  We'll be tasting through at least another 6 expressions in addition to our headliner, and we'll follow up with more details on what we're drinking in the next couple days.  In the meantime, we hope you can join us!

Cheers,
Charlie, Matan and Drammers Club

HEADLINER:

The Glenrothes - John Ramsay Bottle.  We've been hunting for one of these bottles for a long time.  It was released in honor of the retirement of John Ramsay, the longtime "Malt Master" for Glenrothes, tasked with overseeing the quality of the Glenrothes line of single malt scotches (along with the other whiskies in the Edrington portfolio).  He joined them in 1991, and his signature was on every bottle they released since 2004, so when he retired in 2009 they released this special tribute bottle in his honor.  Only 1,400 were released globally, and probably less than 100 bottles made it to the United States, where it received extraordinary reviews.  The initial MSRP was 700 (about US$1,110 at the time) and it has drifted up since then at auction on the few occasions it has resurfaced, now selling usually in the $1700 to $2000 range if you can find one.  One of our members recently alerted us to a bottle becoming available so we snapped it up.  It doesn't carry an age statement, rather it is a craft blend of 30 2nd fill American oak sherry casks of whisky distilled between 1973 and 1987 (so, the youngest whisky in it was about 26 years old, the oldest whisky in the mix was aged 40 years in a barrel).

WHAT IS DRAMMERS CLUB?

If you’re new to Drammers, welcome!  We're a whisky and spirits club that started in 2013, and today we organize regular tastings like this in over 40 cities around the world, currently extending across the United States, Mexico, Canada, the UK, Europe, Turkey, Israel, India and Singapore!  We are an invite-only club, which is mostly just to make sure that everyone is on the same page about drinking responsibly and being friendly.  Anyone who has been to one of our events is welcome to invite their friends to join, including at our other cities around the world.

If you know a lot about whiskey, you’ve come to the right place, there are a lot of us here, ha. But it’s okay if you don’t know anything about whiskey too — we can teach you that easily enough.  We try to host events in each of our chapter cities approximately every 8 weeks or so in person, and we also host regular online events and group trips for a chance to meet some of your fellow Drammers around the world, which you can see below.  We like to joke that our members have drinking buddies waiting for them just about anywhere they get off a plane.  :)

Our members from chapters around the world connect while traveling, during our online events, group trips to whisky festivals, and through our private Facebook Group where over 2,000 of our members discuss the latest releases (search for "Drammers Club", mention this email).  We also do barrel picks — a lot of them! We’ve done 85 barrel picks in the last couple of years, with a lot more in the works, that are available exclusively to members of our club.
