Feb. 11: Drammers Orange County...

$60.00

Hello Orange County Drammers!

You’re invited to join us for a special tasting on Wednesday, Feb. 11th at 7pm. We’ve got a great bourbon-heavy lineup for this event, plus some Scotch and mezcal. A big thank you to Keith Fairclough for organizing and hosting (address: 133 11th street, Seal beach ca 90740). Here’s our lineup:

  • The new High West - A Midwinter Night’s Dram. Act 13, Scene 8. A blend of straight rye whiskeys finished in port barrels, 49.3% abv. Stunning stuff, as usual.

  • High West - American Prairie Bourbon Single Barrel. Next we’ll turn to two exclusive single barrels of High West that we selected for our club — this one is a bourbon finished in a Rivesaltes fortified wine cask. Bottled at a relatively low cask strength of 49.9% abv.

  • High West - Double Rye Finished in a Cognac Cask. Probably my favorite of the two. Why is it that when High West finishes something in Cognac, it tastes so much better than when the next distilleries do it? Maybe there’s something to their pride in their blending skills. Again this is a Drammers-exclusive single cask. 49.3% abv

  • New England Bourbon Company - Bourbon Finished in a Lord Hobo Stout Beer Cask! James and the team at New England Barrel. Co. selected this barrel that was distilled at the Green River Distillery (now owned by Bardstown Bourbon Co.) and partnered with a local New England Brewery (Lord Hobo). As part of their cask exchange program with Lord Hobo, they finished this bourbon in a Lord Hobo stout beer cask. The finish is like a Milky Way candy bar in a bottle, all caramel nougat-y goodness. Bottled at cask strength, 56.9% abv.

  • Peerless - Single Barrel Bourbon. Selected by our friends at Jack Rose in DC. We are proud to have partnered with one of the great whiskey bars in America - the Jack Rose Dining Saloon in Washington DC, so that we’re able to share some of their single barrels with the club (and they carry our single barrels on the menu at Jack Rose!). This single barrel from our friends at Kentucky’s Peerless distillery they named “Sunset Sasparilla” — for reasons that will be obvious when you taste it! 56.95% abv.

  • Matt’s Mitt Bourbon - Proof & Wood Charity Bottling. A heavy rye bourbon, made up of 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% barley. The bottle name takes a minute to explain, which we’ll do at the event, but this is whiskey sourced from MGP and bottled by Dave Schmier at Proof & Wood. All the proceeds go to help a cancer charity for one of our members whose father passed away from a rare type of cancer.

  • Two new Drammers Single Barrels from Found North! Two new Drammers single barrels have just arrived from Found North, the hottest name in Canadian whiskey. Both are 12 years old, one is finished in a Madeira cask, the other in a cherry liqueur cask and bottled at cask strength.

  • Rezpiral Bottling of Uncertified Mezcal by Abel Martinez. This is a mezcal for the record books. The NY Times did a massive comparison of hundreds of mezcals and selected this mezcalero (Abel Martinez) and in particular his batch of Espadin as the best of them all. Happily, we have a close relationship with the team at Rezpiral and when we heard the news, we made a point to select the very next batch of Espadin that he did exclusively for our club! 48% abv.

That’s our lineup, we hope you can join us! We’ll order in light food (likely pizza), which is included with your ticket. As always, we ask everyone to arrange a ride home — after all, we’ll be drinking a lot of high-proof stuff! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Charlie, Keith and Drammers Club
