Dec. 22: Drammers Portland - Barrel Pick Party at Westward Distillery...

Talk about a great way to ring in the holidays, our Portland chapter is going to pick our first barrel of whiskey — at the Westward Distillery with their Head Distiller Miles Munroe! Super excited about this — it’s something we’ve been talking about for years and now we’re finally doing it. Back in October, a handful of us met with Miles and tasted through a wide range of samples to narrow down the choices to a few we thought were especially tasty. At this event on December 22nd, we’re going to meet at the Westward Distillery, taste through them and as a group we’ll choose a barrel — everyone gets a vote, majority wins. Well, let’s be honest, we ALL WIN in this scenario, ha. They’re going to bring out a lot of additional whisky we’ll get a chance to try to, some of the rare single barrels they’ve released as part of their whiskey club. And we wanted to make sure we didn’t show up to the party empty handed, so we’re asking to kick in a little bit ($20 for members, $30 for non-members), which will go to ordering in some pizza and us buying a couple of bottles from them to include in the tasting. Once we’ve picked the barrel, it’ll be a few months before we have it in hand — but once we do have it in hand, we’re going to tour to all 40+ chapters of our club around the world from the US to Mexico, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, India and even our newest chapter in Singapore, all with one message: “Our members in Portland said you needed to try this.”
