We’re delighted to invite you to join this special mezcal tasting with Master Mezcalero Emilio Vieyra on Jan 8th starting at 5pm Pacific / 8pm EST. Emilio produces Don Mateo mezcal, and he was Michoacan’s first licensed distiller of mezcal in Michoacan. The production methods in Michoacan are different than in Oaxaca, and most use what they call a wood-topped “Filipino” still. We had the pleasure of visiting Emilio’s distillery earlier this year, and brought back a number of mezcals only available at his distillery shop in Morelia, as well as a distillery-only rum! The tasting will include at least 6 expressions, including 4 distillery exclusives:

• Ensamble - 70% Cenizo & 30% Cupreate agaves. Produced in January 2022, part of a 100 liter batch.

• Triple Ensamble - 50% cupreata, 25% alto and 25 Manso Sahuayo agaves.

• Reposado - A barrel aged version of Emilio’s mezcal. 45% abv.

• Danza de Lobos Rum - Emiio’s signature rum is rested in glass for 3 years. Batch #1 - 1 of only 461 bottles. 47% abv

We will also include at least 2 of their core range expressions that are available for sale in the US (we’ll update this when we know more about which ones).
