Hello St. Louis Drammers!

Our next Drammers St. Louis tasting will be August 16th at 7pm.  We've got a fun lineup -- none of this is available publicly, unless you count Springbank 12yo cask strength, which might as well be unavailable it's so hard to find!  That includes 4 new barrel picks that we think are arriving. You can read more about the lineup below.  As usual, we'll order in light food (likely pizza, which is included).  We hope you can join us!Cheers,

Charlie, Pat and Drammers Club

BOTTLE LINEUP:

  • Springbank 12yo Cask Strength.  Ah, we do love this Campbeltown distillery, but tracking down a bottle can be a challenge, so we were delighted to find this bottle in Chicago last week.  They are famously the only distillery in Scotland to do all their own floor malting in-house, and virtually nothing has changed at the distillery in over a century.  54.1% abv.

  • Bimber - UK Single Malt - Vino de Naranja No. 2.  Our club was proud to be a founding member of this distillery, and we've done a lot with them with our London chapter.  This bottle was not publicly available, it was part of their very limited members "klub" bottlings, most of which have trouble getting out of the US, but we were able to grab one, bottled in Nov. of 2021.  Finished in essentially "orange wine" casks.  50.2% abv.

  • Starlight Bourbon - Our 2 New Drammers Single Barrel Picks!  Our Indianapolis chapter picked these barrels earlier in the year, and they’ve just arrived!  One is a bourbon finished in a Turkish Apricot Brandy cask, the other is a mesquite smoked bourbon (as in they mesquite smoked the corn before distilling it) and then finished in an Oloroso sherry cask.  Both bottled at a hefty cask strength.

  • High Wire Distilling's Jimmy Red Corn Bourbon.  We haven't even announced this to the club yet, but if all goes according to plan, we'll have this new single barrel pick that our Charleston chapter did from this distillery in Charleston in hand to taste.  The picture here is just their generic core range bottle, ours will be bottled at cask strength, and boy is it good.

  • Glen Scotia - Our New Single Barrel!  Another one!  If all goes well, we'll be announcing this to the club on probably Monday, in which case we'll have it in hand for our tasting.  We've done 2 single barrels with them previously of this Campbeltown single malt Scotch, one peated, one unpeated, and both in ex-bourbon casks.  So for our new single barrel, we decided to mix it up and go with an 8yo Oloroso Sherry matured single malt.  Cask stength of course.  Again, the pic here is just a placeholder.

  • Stranahan's Cask Thief 2020 Bottling.  The Stranahan's distillery in Denver only makes American single malt, and each year they throw a big party that they call "Cask Thief" where they release a handful of special releases that are only available at that festival.  We've been several times, and in 2020 we picked up this bottle "Besito de Reposado" which if memory serves (and as the name implies) features Stranahan's single malt finished in a tequila cask!  53.8% abv.

  • Balcones - Pilgrimage After Peat.  This limited edition gem recently hit the shelves at the Balcones distillery in Waco a couple weeks ago, and luckily we were in town visiting the gang there in between our Austin and Dallas chapter events when it hit the shelves.  This is the 2023 15th Anniversary edition of this series, unpeated single malt that was distilled after a peated single malt distillation, so some of that flavor continues through.  Only available at the distillery. 65% abv.
