We're excited to announce a special online Kilchoman tasting on Sunday, August 13th, starting at Noon Pacific and 3pm EST in the US, and 8pm in Scotland. Our guest speaker will be James Wills, Sales & Marketing Manager at Kilchoman, and the son of Kilchoman's founder Anthony Wills.  Longtime members may recall we had the pleasure of welcoming James in person back in October of 2018, and again online on January 28, 2021 for a tasting and barrel pick event (which you can watch here).  We recently visited with James in person at Feis Ile, where we picked up several distillery only bottles, including their Feis bottling and (to our knowledge) the oldest single cask they've ever released.  We'll be tasting at least 7 expressions, and they’re basically all Kilchoman single malt unicorns:

  • Feis Ile 2023 Release. You had to be at the distillery on Islay during Feis Ile this year to pick this bottle up — released exclusively in the distillery gift shop that day. It is a vatting of 3 casks distilled from Publican barley all grown, malted and distilled at Kilchoman itself. Two 10 year ex-bourbon barrels, and one 11 year sherry butt. A total of 1,159 bottles released. 55.3% abv.

  • 16.5yo Distillery Exclusive Oloroso Sherry Cask Bottle. This surprise release dropped at Kilchoman’s open day at Feis Ile on June 1st, and we were there to scoop up a bottle for this tasting. As far as we know, this is the oldest single barrel they’ve ever released, one of the last remaining 1st fill Oloroso sherry casks from 2006. It yielded 602 bottles, cask #334/2006, 50 PPM, 54.8% abv, distillery exclusive.

  • Calvados Single Cask Matured. Here we find Kilchoman’s distinctive single malt matured in a calvados single cask #361/2018. Filled on April 22, 2018, bottled on May 15, 2023, 50 PPM, 1 of 220 bottles, another distillery exclusive released during Feis Ile this year. 60.3% abv

  • Kilchoman 11yo Bourbon Cask Matured - Distillery Shop Exclusive. Next we’ll dig into a special release from a couple years ago — a very special one that may have gotten a little lost in the shuffle of the covid shutdowns. Cask #222/2010, ex-bourbon, distilled April 22, 2010, bottled February 8, 2021. 1 of 197 bottles. 55.3% abv.

  • Madeira Finish 8yo Single Cask - Warehouse Liquors Pick. Our friends at Warehouse Liquors in Chicago picked this single cask of Kilchoman single malt that was matured in a Madeira cask. Cask #83/2012. Distilled January 3, 2012, Bottled January 3, 2020. 55.2% abv.

  • 100% Islay Single Cask #325/2015. Another pick from our friends at Warehouse, this one was aged in a PX Sherry cask, distilled May 27, 2015, bottled May 27, 2021. Their limited 100% Islay series shows off their unique position as a farm to bottle distillery. 57.4% abv.

  • Drammers 9yo Single Cask - STR Finish. We’re so proud of this exquisite single cask that we picked the last time we welcomed James for an online discussion with our club! Cask #227/2011, Distilled May 12, 2011, Bottled March 15, 2021. 14 month STR finish, 50 PPM, 53.4% abv. This single cask pick is available exclusively to members of Drammers Club for $150/bottle.
