Fellow Drammers!
We've had a minor shakeup to the Balcones lineup... and its awesome. We're still going to be the first anywhere to try 3 new expressions, but instead of the Pilgrimage (which it turned out wasn't ready yet) they added a special new experiment that is so advance of its release and so secret, they won't even be able to tell us what it is during the event! All we know is what is on the label -- "Secret Project" Texas Single Malt, Texas Dessert Wine Casks, 108.2 proof". We'll also be trying their yet-to-be released Dawn and Dusk single malts in collaboration with Haak Winery (these are so new there aren't even pictures of them on the internet yet). Hot damn!
Oh, and by the way, our lineup has now expanded to 11 pours, including their recent hugely award-winning Lineage and Mirador bottlings, plus all four of the single casks we selected last year: True Blue cask strength corn whiskey finished in a tequila cask, Texas Single Malt finished in an ex-apple brandy cask, Texas Single Malt triple matured in new american oak, ex stout beer, and then ex-rum french oak casks, and we're very proud to have selected their first-ever private single cask rum, finished in an Old Forester bourbon barrel. For comparison, we'll try their unaged pot distilled rum to round out the lineup. Finally, we've included a single barrel rye finished in Port that was only available at the distillery (we swung by this weekend between our Dallas and Austin events).
And since we sold out the first 30 sets immediately, we have set up a second set that is up on the site now. Amazing. Onviously we're incredibly flattered and can't thank our friends at Balcones enough for entrusting us with this incredible debut!
