We are delighted to announce a special online tasting with Chris Morris, the Master Distiller Emeritus of Woodford Reserve Distillery, on April 11th, starting at 5pm Pacific / 8pm EST in the US. We last had the opportunity to welcome Mr. Morris on May 1st, 2020, and last year we has the pleasure of welcoming Elizabeth McCall, then the Assistant Master Distiller. A lot has happened since then — Ms. McCall was promoted to Master Distiller, and Mr. Morris’ title changed to Master Distiller Emeritus. Of course, we’re always looking forward to welcoming back Mr. Morris to Drammers, but the recent release of the Historic Entry Proof Master’s Collection bottling made for particularly good timing. We’ve talked a lot about the significant impact of lower barrel entry proof, and here they’ve released a product that went into the barrel at 100 proof, the lowest we can recall ever hearing about, and a topic particularly interesting to dicuss with Mr. Morris given his well known distaste for “cask strength” type releases. So we set about assembling a lineup worthy of the moment, and which didn’t overlap too much with our previous events with him and Ms. McCall, going so far as to secure a special Master’s Collection bottling “Double XO Blend” that Mr. Morris created exclusively for the Chinese market. Here’s what we’ll be tasting:

  • Woodford Reserve Bourbon (Flagship / core range release)

  • Woodford Reserve Double Oaked (core range)

How about that for a lineup! Assuming the first set of samples sells out quickly, as we anticipate it will, we will announce a 2nd set which will be substantially similar, though please note that we only have one bottle of the KY Bourbon Festival single barrel release, so fair warning the 2nd set lineup will change by at least one bottle.
