Jan. 30: Drammers Los Angeles -w- High West Distillery...
Hello Los Angeles Drammers!
The day before the fires broke out in earnest, we had arranged a Drammers LA event to take place on January 30th with the team from High West. But then, with everything that happened and knowing so many of our friends in LA were suffering, we weren’t sure if we should proceed. I know people personally who lost their homes in the fire, and our original host for the event (Bino) let me know he wouldn’t be able to host anymore because he is now housing some people who also lost their home. But after discussing it with a handful of members, everyone there encouraged us to do the event as planned, both because it would be something to look forward to, and they welcomed a chance to get together with friends to process what had happened. So we reached out to the High West brand ambassadors (who also live in LA) and we agreed to proceed, and to make it a free event — we figure LA has been through a lot the last month, this one’s on us. If you weren’t affected by the fire, consider making a donation to your local firefighters directly, but our event only requires you to RSVP, and will include pizza as usual. The event will feature Midwinter’s Nights Dram Act 11, Rendezvous Rye, Campfire, Bourye, plus our two Drammers-exclusive single barrel picks (American Prairie Bourbon in a Rivesaltes Fortified Red Wine cask, and the Double Rye in a Cognac cask), and possibly some more surprises. I’ll be there myself and I’m looking forward to giving you all a hug.
Joshua and Serena have generously offered to host the event at their place downtown (1020 E 4th Place, Unit 102, 90013).
Cheers,
Charlie
PS, if you’re jonesing for more whisky, or you have friends elsewhere in CA, we’ll also have an event on Tuesday in San Diego, on Wednesday in Orange County where we’ll be tasting through a bunch of our recent Drammers Club barrel and mezcal batch picks, plus an event in San Francisco on Friday with the Compass Box team.
